How to schedule a meeting with your counselor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parents\/Guardians:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Email or call your student's counselor to set up appointment.<\/li>\n
  • Student meetings are given priority.<\/li>\n
  • Please note that counselors cannot accommodate drop-in visits from parents\/guardian. Please schedule a meeting.<\/li>\n
  • Due to large counselor caseloads, please allow two school days for a response.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Students:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

      \n
    • For crisis situations, students can ask to see a\u00a0counselor\u00a0throughout the school day without a pass.<\/li>\n
    • Students may see their counselor\u00a0at\u00a0brunch,\u00a0lunch, or after school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      During the school holidays and breaks, counselors do not check their email regularly. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Wellness Center:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      The purpose of the AHS Wellness Center is to provide a safe space for students to take a break, practice self care, then return to learning. Students enter the Wellness Center with the goal of self regulation and returning to class as efficiently as possible.<\/p>\n

      \n

      A Note About Confidentiality<\/strong><\/p>\n

      By law, most of what students share with their\u00a0counselor is protected by confidentiality. \u00a0Below are\u00a0examples of information that is NOT confidential.<\/p>\n

      1. \n

        Academics<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      2. \n

        Harm to self<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      3. \n

        Harm to others (threats to others safety)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      4. \n

        Others harming students (neglect, physical or sexual abuse or assault, etc.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      5. \n

        Violations on school property (stealing, distributing drugs\/weapons, harm to school property\/vandalism, etc.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        If you are ever unsure about what is considered confidential, please ask your counselor to review the limits of confidentiality and answer any questions you have. As counselors, our ultimate goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for students to share, while at the same time, ensuring both student and school safety.<\/p>\n
