Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools is hosting the 2024 Golden Sneaker Contest from March 4-15. All students are encouraged to walk, roll, carpool, and\/or use public transit to and from school.

FREE Brookvale Art Class<\/strong><\/p>

We are pleased to provide an exciting opportunity for our 3rd – 5th grade students made possible by Senate Bill 115, the Arts and Music in Schools-Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. \u00a0Pallavi Sujith, former Brookvale parent, will be teaching free beginning art classes starting on Tuesday, March 5th. \u00a0This opportunity is available on a first come first serve basis. \u00a0Please read this\u00a0<\/span>flyer<\/span><\/a>\u00a0for detailed information regarding the dates and times of the classes.<\/span><\/p>

Alameda County Bike Mobile!<\/strong><\/p>

The Alameda County Bike Mobile is returning to Brookvale. \u00a0Friday, March 15th from 3 – 5 pm. \u00a0Come with your bike. Bike repairs: \u00a0flat tires, brakes, shifters and bike education is available. \u00a0Space is limited. \u00a0First come, first served.<\/span><\/p>

Residency Verification Forms Due!<\/strong><\/p>

On January 29th \u00a0you will receive an email from\u00a0<\/span>Informed K12<\/span>\u00a0regarding the required annual Residency Verification. \u00a0The email will include a form that includes your student’s information. \u00a0You will need to upload two\u00a0<\/span>current\u00a0<\/span>proofs of residency (within the previous 30 days.) \u00a0Please do not upload your ID\/driver’s license as this is not considered an acceptable proof of residency.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Once you sign and submit the form, it will go directly to your child’s current school of attendance for processing.<\/span><\/p>

If you do not see the email, please check your SPAM\/junk email folders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

You may also bring two proofs of your current address to the Brookvale School office to prove your residency and save your child\u2019s spot for next year.<\/span><\/p>

Attendance Counts!<\/strong><\/p>

This is the time of year when winter weather takes a toll on school attendance. Road conditions and rain can make it hard to get your children to school. So can illnesses such as colds, flu, fevers, earaches, and COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>

These absences, even if they are excused, break the routine of daily attendance which can impact students feeling connected and engaged in learning. Please consider these steps to keep your children healthy and in school this winter.<\/span><\/p>

1. \u00a0<\/span> <\/span>Develop back up plans for getting your children to school.<\/span>\u00a0Check who can give your children a ride if you can\u2019t take them, or form a \u201cwalking school bus\u201d to walk to school with other families. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>

2.<\/span> <\/span>If your children get sick\u00a0<\/span>or you are concerned about Covid or the flu, talk to your child\u2019s medical provider or the school nurse for advice.<\/span><\/p>

3.<\/span> <\/span>\u00a0Stomach pain and headaches can be signs of anxiety and may not be reasons for keeping a child home.\u00a0<\/span>If you feel that anxiety or stress is playing a role, talk to your child\u2019s teacher, the school nurse, counselor or your medical provider about how best to support your child.<\/span><\/p>

4.<\/span> <\/span>Encourage children to wash their hands\u00a0<\/span>before and after eating and after using the restroom.<\/span><\/p>

5. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Encourage healthy habits<\/span>\u00a0such as getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, drinking fluids and getting exercise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
