{"id":190946,"date":"2024-05-03T10:41:43","date_gmt":"2024-05-03T17:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/brookvale\/?p=190946"},"modified":"2025-01-30T15:59:03","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T23:59:03","slug":"may-2024-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/brookvale\/news\/may-2024-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"May 2024 Updates!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><strong>Brookvale\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><strong>May 2024 Updates!<\/strong><\/span><\/p><br \/><p><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>5th Grade Farewell Ceremony<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span>Parents are invited to the 5th grade Red Carpet Farewell Ceremony! \u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span>When: \u00a0Friday, May 31, 2024<\/span><\/p><p><span>Time: \u00a09:00 am SHARP!<\/span><\/p><p><span>The ceremony will be held in front of the school. \u00a0This event will be standing room only. \u00a0Parents can watch from the parking lot while students walk the red carpet. \u00a0The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and will conclude by 10:00 AM.<\/span><\/p><p><span>After the ceremony, parents may sign their students out early for the day. \u00a0For students who will NOT be leaving school early, they will return to their class and be dismissed at 1:30 PM.<\/span><\/p><p><span>*Please be sure your child is ON TIME (by 8:25 AM) as the ceremony begins promptly at 9:00 AM. \u00a0Students will not have access to changing rooms and must arrive dressed and ready to walk.<\/span><\/p><br \/><p><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Early Release Day! \u00a0Friday, May 31st!<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span>Our last day of school is Friday, May 31, 2024. \u00a0This is an early release day for all students:<\/span><\/p><p><span>TK: \u00a011:40 AM<\/span><\/p><p><span>Kindergarten: \u00a011:46 AM<\/span><\/p><p><span>Grades 1 &#8211; 6: \u00a01:30 PM<\/span><\/p><p><span>Thank you for being on time to pick up your child!<\/span><\/p><br \/><p><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Medication Pick-Up<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span>As we near the end of the school year, please plan a time to come by the school office to pick up your child&#8217;s medication. \u00a0We are available from 8:00am &#8211; 3:30pm Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri and from 8:00 am &#8211; 3:00 on Wednesdays.<\/span><\/p><p><span>Any medication not picked up by Friday, May 31st will be discarded.<\/span><\/p><br \/><p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/ps-feeds-production\/inline_images_1714757364090-1714757364090.png\" width=\"279\" height=\"194\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>ClassLink Student Password Reset Tool<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span>You should have received a message from the Fremont Unified School District regarding the introduction of a new Self-Service Password Reset Tool through the ClassLink platform. This will allow students to manage their own account passwords securely and efficiently.<\/span><\/p><p><span>Please read through the instructions thoroughly and complete steps to reset and enable recovery of the password for your student&#8217;s user account.<\/span><\/p><p><span>Students will need to use this password to login to their accounts at school, so please be sure they are able to login in independently and can remember their password.<\/span><\/p><br \/><p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/ps-feeds-production\/inline_images_1714757306456-1714757306456.png\" width=\"315\" height=\"88\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC Testing)<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span>Grades 3-6 students will be participating in SBAC Testing this month. In\u00a0<\/span><span>July 2024<\/span><span>, parents and guardians of students enrolled for 2024-25 will receive information to activate their Aeries Parent Portal, and will use the Portal to complete the annual MAZE process, called \u201cParent Data Confirmation\u201d in Aeries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span>MAZE is Fremont Unified School District\u2019s annual data confirmation process in which parents\/guardians:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p role=\"presentation\"><span>provide required information for each enrolled student &#8211; such as emergency contacts,<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p role=\"presentation\"><span>acknowledge certain parent\/guardian and student rights and responsibilities, and\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p role=\"presentation\"><span>access specific school forms\/information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span>Completing the MAZE process ensures your student\u2019s school has accurate information, and allows families to view student schedules\/classroom assignments and their teachers when that information is released in August.<\/span><\/p><p><span>Please look out for additional information about activating your Aeries Parent Portal and completing the MAZE process in the coming months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><br \/><p><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Volunteers Needed!<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span>Brookvale will have three vacancies in the upcoming school year on the School Site Council and English Learner Advisory Committee. \u00a0Please consider nominating yourself for this position. \u00a0The SSC\/ELAC monitors the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) Plan. Road conditions and rain can make it hard to get your children to school. So can illnesses such as colds, flu, fevers, earaches, and COVID-19.<\/span><\/p><p><span>These absences, even if they are excused, break the routine of daily attendance which can impact students feeling connected and engaged in learning. Please consider these steps to keep your children healthy and in school this winter.<\/span><\/p><p><span>1. \u00a0<\/span><span>    <\/span><span>Develop back up plans for getting your children to school.<\/span><span>\u00a0Check who can give your children a ride if you can\u2019t take them, or form a \u201cwalking school bus\u201d to walk to school with other families. \u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span>2.<\/span><span>    <\/span><span>If your children get sick\u00a0<\/span><span>or you are concerned about Covid or the flu, talk to your child\u2019s medical provider or the school nurse for advice.<\/span><\/p><p><span>3.<\/span><span>    <\/span><span>\u00a0Stomach pain and headaches can be signs of anxiety and may not be reasons for keeping a child home.\u00a0<\/span><span>If you feel that anxiety or stress is playing a role, talk to your child\u2019s teacher, the school nurse, counselor or your medical provider about how best to support your child.<\/span><\/p><p><span>4.<\/span><span>    <\/span><span>Encourage children to wash their hands\u00a0<\/span><span>before and after eating and after using the restroom.<\/span><\/p><p><span>5. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span>Encourage healthy habits<\/span><span>\u00a0such as getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, drinking fluids and getting exercise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span>Let us know how we can help you.
