GOLDEN SNEAKER CONTEST: \u00a0MARCH 3 – MARCH 14<\/strong><\/p>

The Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools team is pumped to announce that the 2025 Golden Sneaker Contest is happening March 3 \u2013 March 14, 2025! During this well-loved event, Alameda County students, classrooms, and schools will participate to see who can walk, roll, carpool, and\/or use public transit the most.<\/span><\/p>

NO SCHOOL: \u00a0MARCH 10<\/strong><\/p>

Monday, March 10th is Staff Development Day. \u00a0There is no school for students on this day.<\/span><\/p>

CONTINUING STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR 2025-2026<\/strong><\/p>

Residency Verification forms are DUE! \u00a0The deadline was February 28th. This is required twice a year (once in July to start the school year and once in February to finish the school year). \u00a0Families that do not prove residency may be dropped from enrollment (required per Board Policy 5111).<\/span><\/p>

The residency verification email was sent by Greg Bailey on February 3rd. \u00a0This email will only be sent to the primary parent so please check both parents emails and spam folders. \u00a0If you cannot find the email, please contact the Brookvale school office so we can resend it to you.<\/span><\/p>

Two proofs of your current address must be uploaded to the form in the email and submitted in order for your residency verification to be complete. \u00a0Alternatively, you may bring two proofs to the Brookvale office or email them to Jennifer Mehta at\u00a0<\/span>jmehta@fusdk12.net<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

ELAC MEETING: \u00a0MARCH 18<\/strong><\/p>

Our next English Language Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for March 18th from 2:00 – 3:00pm. \u00a0The meeting will be held via zoom.<\/span><\/p>

STUDENT PLACEMENT INPUT<\/strong><\/p>

The placement of students in each class for next year is decided by the administration and the faculty. Student placement is a complex process with many variables that must be considered. The following criteria are used in order to accomplish the placement of students: academic needs, behavior needs, program needs, ethnic balance, student language needs, and gender balance. We will not accept requests for specific teachers. If you would like to give input regarding your child\u2019s educational needs, you must use the online\u00a0<\/span>Brookvale 2025-2026 Input for Student Placement Considerations<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0This link is for Brookvale ONLY. Other schools have their own form. Letters will not be accepted. Parents must understand that only the educational needs of the student will be considered. Online forms must be submitted by April 11, 2025 at 4:00 pm. No forms received after this date will be considered. If you cannot access the link above, please email Mrs. Elliott.<\/span><\/p>

CAASPP TESTING<\/strong><\/p>

Our 3-6 grade students have started the state mandated testing (CAASPP). \u00a0All classrooms continue to be busy learning about a vast array of topics. \u00a0 It is important that all students arrive at class on time each day. We appreciate you not scheduling appointments during class time or planning vacation\/out of town trips for the duration of this testing window.<\/span><\/p>

ELPAC TESTING: FEBRUARY 1 – MAY 24<\/strong><\/p>

All students identified as MLL (MultiLingual Learner) will take the ELPAC test to provide data about their progress in English. Students take this test every year until they are reclassified as English Fluent Proficient.\u00a0<\/span>ELPAC resources, including practice test<\/span><\/a>s, are available online. Our testing window will take place between February and May.<\/span><\/p>

SMARTER BALANCE ASSESSMENT TESTING<\/strong><\/p>

Grades 3-6 students will be participating in SBAC Testing this month. Parents & Guardians, please make sure your students are well-rested, eat a nutritious breakfast, and arrive at school before the line-up bell.<\/span><\/p>
