Good Morning Cabrillo Families!

Welcome Back to Cabrillo!

It has been wonderful seeing smiling faces of families on campus. With the transition of 6th grade to middle school and the loss of TK, Cabrillo has lost roughly 100 students. This has made the intermediate lunch period a dream. Soon our kindergarteners will join us in the cafeteria for lunch then recess period. Change happens at Cabrillo and we are ready for it.

Coffee With the Principal

PTA is hosting a Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, September 6th at 8:30 in the cafeteria. This month will feature our community school coordinator Kelly Mokashi. Ms. Mokashi will share the current status of our community school movement. She will be looking for your input on how we could use the implementation grant if awarded by the state. This is very exciting! The monthly Coffee With the Principal sessions help connect community members with one another and give you opportunities to ask questions.

Parking at Cabrillo

As we enter the month of September, I would like to provide some reminders about drop off, pick up, and parking at Cabrillo.  Above is our Cabrillo Bus Parking Map. The green zones are where families can pass with their vehicles and park. Please note that parking is limited to Zone 1 which is the parking lot behind the portables. Please do not drop off your child in the bus zone. The parking in this lot is for staff and FUSD personnel only. Families, assisted by Miss Damaris have been entering the horseshoe and pulling all the way forward to the kindergarten rooms. Great Work! This ensures we can move as many students on to campus as possible and get the parents/guardians on the way to their day. Remember to exit the horseshoe by turning right.

School Site Council

We have five parents who have volunteered to be members of the School Site Council (SSC). Mrs. Nasir is returning for her second year. A ballot will be going home in the Wednesday Wildcat folder for the four remaining positions. There are five community positions on the SSC. Our first meeting will be held in the Cove Tuesday, September 19 at 4:00.

Cabrillo PTA Meeting - Tuesday, September 26 @ 6:00

Please join us at the September 26 PTA Association meeting at 6:00 in Room 12. Our Cabrillo PTA connects families, the school and our community by providing programs and services at Cabrillo.  When you are a member of PTA, you are an advocate for your child and for all children. You can go to the Cabrillo PTA Totem site to join.

Green PAW Day

Help us prepare our school garden! Mr. Thibodeaux is leading a garden clean up day on Sunday, September 10 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This will be our 2nd biannual Green Paw Day. We will be pulling weeds, cleaning garbage and beautifying the garden. Please join us at any time between 8AM-12PM and encourage your student’s friends and neighbors to attend. 

We at Cabrillo are very excited to bring a new year of learning to your students. It truly is a new day at Cabrillo.
