Weibel Elementary<\/li>\r\n<li>Joseph Azevada Elementary<\/li>\r\n<li>Warm Springs Elementary<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>The Circle of Independent Learning, a charter school authorized by FUSD, was also named a 2023 California Distinguished School.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;I congratulate the staff and students at each of our Distinguished Schools,&#8221; said FUSD Superintendent CJ Cammack. &#8220;Across FUSD, our schools are providing world-class educational experiences and responsive support for each student. I am proud that the excellence of our educators, students and families is being acknowledged at the state level.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<p>Elementary schools and secondary schools are recognized in alternate years; FUSD&#8217;s John F. Kennedy High School was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/nr\/ne\/yr21\/yr21rel35.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">named a 2021 California Distinguished School<\/a> in the most recent selection by the CDE.<\/p>\r\n<p>The California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes outstanding education programs and practices. The CDE identifies eligible schools based on their performance and progress on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caschooldashboard.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022 California School Dashboard<\/a>; schools were selected for closing the achievement gap or exceptional student performance based on assessment results, rates of chronic absenteeism, suspension rates, and socioeconomic data.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;California Distinguished Schools represent examples of not just excellent teaching, learning, and collaboration, but also highly successful, data-driven school efforts ranging from professional development for educators to mental health and social-emotional wellness strategies to address the needs of students and families,&#8221; said State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/nr\/ne\/yr23\/yr23rel01.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 6 press release<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p>The 2023 California Distinguished Schools will be honored in an awards ceremony on February 16, 2023.<\/p>\r\n<p>More information on this program is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/ta\/sr\/cs\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDE&#8217;s California Distinguished Schools Program web page<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/13yJS8E2jQ6pY4zu5wzM2fIiI4_Hfj2Ly\/view?usp=share_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click to view press release.<\/a><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; FUSD is home to six of the 356 elementary schools named as 2023 California Distinguished Schools by the California Department of Education (CDE).
