{"id":116,"date":"2023-05-08T15:30:24","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T15:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fusd.dev.apppresser.com\/hopkins\/science\/"},"modified":"2024-02-13T10:14:07","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T18:14:07","slug":"science","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/hopkins\/students-community\/programs-services\/departments\/science\/","title":{"rendered":"Science"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<p>In Fremont, the middle grades (6-8) are integrated so that Earth, life and physical science concepts are taught in all three grades according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/pd\/ca\/sc\/ngssstandards.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Next Generation Science Standards<\/a>\u00a0integrated model.\u00a0 All Fremont elementary and middle schools use the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amplify.com\/programs\/amplify-science\/whats-included-6-8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amplify<\/a>\u00a0curriculum\u00a0developed by the Lawrence\u00a0Hall of Science in Berkeley for core science instruction in grades K-8.\u00a0 6-8 grade science courses\u00a0also include\u00a0the\u00a0district-mandated comprehensive health, puberty, and sexuality education\u00a0program,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/about\/instructional-services\/curriculum-instruction\/curriculum-instruction-health-resources\/\">CHSPE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7th Grade Topics:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Structures and Properties of Matter, Energy, Ecosystems, Chemical Change, Plate Tectonics, Biodiversity, and Human Impact<\/p>\n<p><strong>8th Grade Topics:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Forces and Motion, Energy, Waves, Astronomy, Evolution and Natural Selection, and Human Impact<\/p>\n<p>Hopkins middle school science students\u00a0engage in the same practices that real scientists and engineers do. For example, students develop and use models, analyze data, and make evidence-based arguments.
