{"id":121,"date":"2023-05-08T15:30:26","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T15:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fusd.dev.apppresser.com\/hopkins\/social-studies\/"},"modified":"2023-09-14T11:24:27","modified_gmt":"2023-09-14T18:24:27","slug":"social-studies","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/hopkins\/students-community\/programs-services\/departments\/social-studies\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<p>In the history\/social studies, critical thinking, civic engagement and development of communities are at the core of instruction.\u00a0 We strive to engage all students in active and participatory educational activities, with the goal of having active and informed citizens and community members\u00a0who can use what they know about history and society to build a better world for all of us.<\/p>\n<p>Our curriculum is set forth in the California Content Standards and Frameworks, 6th grade curriculum covers early civilizations, 7th grade world history covers Medieval history, starting at the Fall of Rome through the Age or Exploration.\u00a0 In the 8th grade, students study US History, from the time of the revolution through the 19th century, including the Civil War and Reconstruction.<\/p>\n<p>Students in the immersion program take their history class in the language they are studying, either Spanish or Mandarin.\u00a0 They have the same teacher for both their immersion language and history, at their grade level.<\/p>\nFor more information about the standards, please see the California Department of Education:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/be\/st\/ss\/documents\/histsocscistnd.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDE<\/a>.\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/fremontunified.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/05\/aHR0cHM6Ly9oamgtZnVzZC1jYS5zY2hvb2xsb29wLmNvbS91aW1nL2ZpbGUvMTU0NTQ2Njg3MzA5My8xNTAwNzA5Njc4NDkyLzcwODg3MTA1NzcxNTEyMzQzNDQuanBn.jpeg\" alt=\"Early Civilizations\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>6th Grade &#8211;
