Dear FUSD Staff and Community,<\/p>\n
As some of you may be aware, screenshots have circulated showing a series of online messages with hateful speech and specific threats of violence. These messages were exchanged amongst a small group of our students from American High School, and do not reflect the standard of excellence and high character demonstrated throughout Fremont Unified, or the high level of personal integrity shown by the majority of our AHS students.<\/p>\n
The District is taking this matter very seriously and we will assign consequences as appropriate and permissible under the law and related education code. <\/strong>We are actively investigating in cooperation with the Fremont Police Department and our School Resource Officers (SROs).<\/p>\n Today an FUSD student was taken into police custody related to this matter.<\/strong> The student is a minor and the District will not be providing identifying information. The Fremont Police Department may be releasing additional information as they are the lead agency in this investigation; please contact FPD at 510-790-6800 with any questions regarding this investigation.<\/p>\n We thank the Fremont Police Department for its swift action and continued support to ensure our schools continue to be safe for students and staff.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Our world and our students have witnessed more hate and violence than any of us can fully process. Yesterday we posted a message with resources that may help our families in talking to their children about these topics. We recognize the intensified emotions that will be present in light of recent events across the nation and most recently in Texas.<\/p>\n Hateful words and threats of violence strike at the heart of the diverse community we celebrate in FUSD. These messages dishonor our entire school community, and more directly impact specific students and staff. We are offering support and counseling to those directly affected by these messages, and the school site (AHS) is communicating with the impacted students’ parents\/guardians at this time.<\/p>\n This incident brings home the importance of our continued efforts to educate our students about antiracism, discrimination, gender inclusivity, and global citizenship. Creating lasting change requires commitment and cooperation from within and beyond the walls of our schools.<\/p>\n Please take time to talk to your student about not actively or passively participating in racist, violent and homophobic messaging. Such actions will not be tolerated or accepted. Please underscore the importance of making good choices, the potential consequences for students who engage in inappropriate and\/or dangerous conduct, and the lasting impact such acts (or inaction in the face of such acts) can have on their lives, and the lives of others.<\/p>\n As always, we encourage you to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement and school administration, and to seek counseling support for students at their schools as needed. \u7c21\u7a31FPD)\u53ef\u80fd\u6703\u767c\u5e03\u66f4\u591a\u4fe1\u606f\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u4ed6\u5011\u662f\u6b64\u6b21\u8abf\u67e5\u7684\u727d\u982d\u6a5f\u69cb\uff1b \u5982\u6709\u4efb\u4f55\u95dc\u65bc\u672c\u6b21\u8abf\u67e5\u7684\u554f\u984c\uff0c\u8acb\u81f4\u96fb 510-790-6800 \u806f\u7e6b FPD\u3002<\/p>\n \u6211\u5011\u611f\u8b1d\u5f17\u91cc\u8499\u7279\u8b66\u5bdf\u5c40\u7684\u8fc5\u901f\u884c\u52d5\u548c\u6301\u7e8c\u652f\u6301\uff0c\u4ee5\u78ba\u4fdd\u6211\u5011\u7684\u5b78\u6821\u7e7c\u7e8c\u70ba\u5b78\u751f\u548c\u6559\u8077\u54e1\u5de5\u63d0\u4f9b\u5b89\u5168\u74b0\u5883\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n \u6211\u5011\u7684\u4e16\u754c\u548c\u6211\u5011\u7684\u5b78\u751f\u76ee\u7779\u4e86\u6bd4\u6211\u5011\u4efb\u4f55\u4eba\u80fd\u5920\u5b8c\u5168\u8655\u7406\u7684\u66f4\u591a\u7684\u4ec7\u6068\u548c\u66b4\u529b\u3002
