This will be my 14th year teaching computers at Mattos.\u00a0 I am excited to welcome your students to our computer lab!<\/span><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Mission Statement:<\/strong><\/span> To foster a positive and hands-on approach to computer education, to equip students with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.<\/span><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">All 1st &#8211; 5th grade Mattos students come to the computer lab for 60+ minutes a week.<\/span><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Topics covered include:<\/span><\/p><ul><li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Digital Literacy (navigating websites, online safety\/privacy, digital footprint, respectful communication, research skills, etc.)\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Productivity (Word processing, presentations for upper grades)<\/span><\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Keyboarding\/Typing (all grades) + Mouse skills (1st grade)<\/span><\/p><\/li><li dir=\"ltr\"><p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">Intro to Computer Programming &#8211; Coding concepts + Algorithms via age-appropriate websites<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, sans-serif;\">In addition I support classroom teachers by incorporating academic subjects (especially Math, English and Science) into the computer lab curriculum via academic websites, assessment support, and review.
