As we embark on this new year, I am reflecting on our progress in 2023, and refocusing on areas of opportunity and needed improvements in Fremont Unified.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Our accomplishments in 2023 were due to the hard work and dedication of talented and committed individuals who take personal and professional responsibility for supporting our students in the most impressive ways. We had much to recognize and celebrate:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Six elementary <a href=\"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/news\/six-fusd-elementary-schools-named-california-distinguished-schools\/\">schools named as California Distinguished Schools<\/a>: Weibel, Forest Park, Chadbourne, Azevada, Warm Springs, and Mission Valley.<\/li>\r\n<li>Robertson High School <a href=\"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/news\/robertson-high-school-named-a-model-continuation-high-school-for-2023\/\">recognized as one of 37 Model Continuation Schools<\/a> in California.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>Launched extended day kindergarten.<\/li>\r\n<li>Increased all employee salaries by 7.22%.<\/li>\r\n<li>Moved all 6th grade students to middle schools and <a href=\"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/news\/press-release\/ribbon-cuttings-on-new-and-updated-facilities-at-three-middle-schools\/\">completed conversions at Centerville, Hopkins and Thornton middle schools<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>Completed Tak Fudenna Memorial Stadium turf replacement.<\/li>\r\n<li>Launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/news\/eco-friendly-blacow-elementary-waste-reduction-efforts-featured-on-telemundo\/\">reusable tray and utensil pilot program<\/a> at five elementary schools.<\/li>\r\n<li>Ensured access to a Wellness Center at all high schools and middle schools.<\/li>\r\n<li>Launched <a href=\"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/students-community\/support\/portals\/\">ParentSquare as our districtwide communication platform<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<li>Purchased over 6,000 new Chromebooks.<\/li>\r\n<li>Upgraded cyber security across Fremont Unified.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>Approved seven <a href=\"https:\/\/fremontunified.org\/about\/instructional-services\/curriculum-instruction\/ci-initiatives-dashboard\/\">new curriculum adoptions<\/a>, in addition to new core novels.<\/li>\r\n<li>Initiated transition to Aeries as our student information system starting in the 2024-25 school year.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>The new year allows us to build on these accomplishments and achieve much more. Future areas of focus and growth include, but are not limited to:\u00a0<ul>\r\n<li>Continued progress on facility improvements.<\/li>\r\n<li>Exploration of new funding measures to support Fremont Unified, such as parcel tax renewals and new bond measures to support facility needs.<\/li>\r\n<li>Further implementation of our multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) model to meet student needs academically, socially, and emotionally.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>Additional work to prepare for an uncertain economy, and secure funding from the state and federal government to maximize resources to support our students and staff.<\/li>\r\n<li>Continued focus on results for student achievement to allow for data-driven decisions that best support our students&#8217; performance and overall development.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>Continued exploration of diverse pathways and course offerings to support all students.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Throughout my time in FUSD, I\u2019ve been impressed with our teachers and other certificated staff, classified employees, and managers.
