Counselor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<p>Hello students and families,<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for visiting the Mission San Jose Elementary (MSJE) School Counseling webpage.\u00a0 My name is Ko Vue and I am thrilled to be your school counselor.\u00a0 This will be my second\u00a0year at MSJE, and my seventh\u00a0year overall, in this profession.\u00a0 My goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone and ensure all students thrive in school.\u00a0 My office is a friendly space for students to reach out for help and learn strategies to navigate towards a successful school year.<\/p>\n<p>The School Counseling Department provides a comprehensive counseling program catered to student progress in the areas of academic, social-emotional, and career development. \u00a0 This is achieved through prevention and intervention services as described below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Individual Counseling: <\/strong>\u00a0Provide short-term counseling support to address concerns in academic, social-emotional and career development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Crisis Intervention:<\/strong>\u00a0 Support and connect students and families to resources during a crisis or emergency situation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Group Counseling:\u00a0<\/strong> Provide short-term group counseling focused on common concerns in academic or social-emotional areas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Social-Emotional Lessons (SEL):<\/strong>\u00a0 Present lessons in the classrooms focused on topics of academic, social-emotional or career development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schoolwide Initiatives:<\/strong>\u00a0 Coordinate and plan activities including, but not limited to, Start with Hello Week, Mindful Mondays, Great Kindness Challenge, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collaboration and Consultation:\u00a0<\/strong> Collaborate and consult with students, parents, staff and other stakeholders to advocate for student needs (e.g.\u00a0 classroom interventions, academic plans, behavior plans, Student Study Teams, 504s, IEPs, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Community Resources and Referrals:\u00a0 <\/strong>Direct students and parents to school or community resources such as therapy, food, housing, clothing, healthcare, childcare, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I am looking forward to working together with you.\u00a0 If you have any questions
