Born and raised in Fremont, I feel honored to\u00a0serve students and families in my hometown. I attended Chadbourne, Hopkins and Mission San Jose before pursuing my B.S. in Business Administration at\u00a0Cal Poly San Luis Obispo\u00a0and M.A. in Counseling &amp; Guidance (including the PPS School Counseling Credential) at San Jose State University. This will be my second year working with the Niles community. If we haven&#8217;t already met, I would love to get to know you and your student(s). Please don&#8217;t be a stranger!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Full-Time School Counselor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 21\/22 school year was the <em>first year<\/em> that Niles Elementary had\u00a0a full-time school counselor on staff! This means that Niles&#8217; students and families gained access to a school counselor\u00a0five days a week, Monday-Friday.<\/p>\n<p><em>After returning from spring break (4\/17)\u00a0my schedule will be Tuesday-Friday through the end of the school 22\/23 year because I am taking a partial leave of absence.\u00a0Please visit my &#8220;Contact Information&#8221; page to learn about different ways to get in touch with me.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>My Counseling Philosophy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am a strong believer in\u00a0intentional collaboration between parents\/guardians, teachers, school staff and the school counselor to work as a team to support students&#8217; well-being and academic success. But, while connected, the two terms are not equivalent. Generally, we assign a newborn's sex as either male or female based on the baby's genitals. A person's gender is the complex interrelationship between three dimensions: body, identity, and social gender.
