Appointment of New Superintendent Zack Larsen
Dear Fremont Unified School District Staff and Community,
I am honored to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of the Fremont Unified School District. As someone who was born at Washington Hospital and raised in Fremont, this community has always been my home. My parents, both dedicated educators who served in Fremont for 40 years each, instilled in me a deep appreciation for education and the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to it.
My journey in Fremont Unified has spanned 26 years, beginning as an elementary school teacher before serving as a high school assistant principal and principal, Director of Secondary Education, and Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. These experiences have provided me with a deep understanding of our schools, our students, and the incredible work being done by our educators and staff every day.
Some of my earliest and fondest memories revolve around our schools - I learned to ride my bike in the Rotunda at American High School on rainy days and spent summers helping my mother prepare her classroom at Joshua Chadbourne Elementary. These moments shaped my lifelong commitment to education and to the success of the students and families of Fremont.
I am deeply grateful to the talented educators and staff who supported me as a student in Fremont. It was their professionalism, care, and dedication that helped foster my appreciation for education and ultimately led me to a career in public service. Their impact continues to inspire me, and I am committed to ensuring that every student in our district experiences the same level of support, encouragement, and opportunity.
Fremont Unified School District has a rich history of excellence, built on a foundation of collaboration, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to student success. I am excited to continue working alongside our talented educators, dedicated staff, engaged families, and valued community partners to uphold and enhance this legacy. My collaborative leadership will be guided by empathy, honesty, and a commitment to listening and understanding the needs of our students, staff, and families.
I look forward to working with you as we continue to make Fremont Unified a destination district and one where every student has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. Together, we will build upon our successes and create new opportunities for our students and community.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our schools. I am excited for the journey ahead and honored to serve this incredible district.
Sincerely,
Zack Larsen
