Dear Fremont Unified Community,<\/h2><\/td><\/tr>\n

We are four weeks into the school year, and I am incredibly excited by all that we\u2019ve accomplished across Fremont Unified.\u00a0

In addition to the great work happening at each of our schools to meet the needs of students, the successful launch of an expanded TK, extended day kindergarten, and conversion of Centerville, Hopkins and Thornton middle schools were all remarkable achievements. I send congratulations and gratitude to everyone involved in that work.

I am happy to report that our student enrollment exceeded projections this year, and our staffing level was exceptional with nearly every class being covered by an FUSD teacher to start the year. In the rare circumstance where a teacher was not yet hired, we had dedicated and caring long-term credentialed substitutes in place. I\u2019ll note that our district is continuing to decline in enrollment from year to year (although this year we only declined by approximately 97 students), as are the vast majority of school districts in California. These topics will be covered in our School Funding Presentations in October, see below for more information.\u00a0

I extend my gratitude to each of you for entrusting Fremont Unified to serve our community and educate our students. I do not take your trust or partnership for granted.\u00a0

Conversion to Middle School Model is Complete<\/h2>\n

In 2014, the Fremont Unified School District Board of Education approved plans to convert all junior high schools to middle schools. This school year, after multiple large-scale construction projects, all five middle schools in Fremont Unified are open and serving students in grades 6, 7 and 8.\u00a0

Last week Centerville, Hopkins and Thornton middle schools hosted ribbon cutting events to celebrate the new and updated facilities on each campus, and the additional students and staff that joined each school as enrollment expanded to include grade 6.\u00a0

We thank everyone who attended one or more of the ribbon cutting ceremonies, all the people and groups who supported the conversion projects, and the Fremont voters who made the new and modernized facilities at middle schools possible through support of the Measure E Bond in 2014.

Save the Date: School Funding Presentations<\/h2>\n

Do you want to know more about how school funding is secured and allocated in Fremont Unified?\u00a0

All community members are invited to join Superintendent CJ Cammack and Fremont Unified leadership on October 16 or 18 to learn about school funding. Attend in person and\/or submit questions in advance. Both sessions will include the same presentation, and a recording will be posted following the events.

All Fremont Unified schools and parents\/guardians are able to use ParentSquare for home-to-school communications.\u00a0

ParentSquare is the preferred platform for the District and schools to send mass notifications and alerts to parents\/guardians, and serves as the absence notification system.

The preferences users set for their account determine the language, delivery method and frequency of messages, though schools may send instant phone, text, email and app notifications for certain messages and in urgent situations.\u00a0Click here to find more information about notification settings.<\/u><\/a>

Need to activate your account?
<\/strong>Use the “Register” field on\u00a0www.parentsquare.com\/signin<\/u><\/a> or the ParentSquare app to activate your account with the email address or cell phone number on record in Infinite Campus. If needed, please contact your student\u2019s school office to update your phone number or email address in Infinite Campus.

Those who do not register their account will still receive text, email and phone notifications sent from your student\u2019s teacher(s), school or the District.
