Vallejo Mill staff does not encourage or advise the use of cell phones on school campus.\u00a0\u00a0The school does not assume responsibility for\u00a0lost or stolen items.\u00a0\u00a0Elementary Students\u00a0shall not carry cell phones on campus unless by:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Doctor’s request<\/strong>:\u00a0It is determined by a licensed physician or surgeon to be essential for the student’s health.\u00a0 These students shall have a written plan including the doctor’s written verification for cell phone use which has been approved by the school administrator and which is on file in the school office.<\/li>\n
  2. Administrator’s discretion<\/strong>:\u00a0Site administrator also may give a student written approval to have a cell phone at school for\u00a0special circumstances based on a parent \/ guardian’s written request.\u00a0\u00a0A copy of this written request with the approval must be kept on file in the\u00a0Vallejo\u00a0Mill\u00a0School\u00a0office<\/strong>.\u00a0 The principal will maintain a master list of students who have permission to carry a cell phone and \/ or pager.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Elementary students who have permission to carry cell phones\/pagers under the above two exceptions must adhere to the following rules.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Cell phones are to be used to make a phone call for a ride only. \u00a0Students are not to use the phone to take pictures, listen to music, call friends, etc.<\/li>\n
    2. Cell phones are not to be used during instructional time and recess.<\/li>\n
    3. Cell phones are to be shut off completely at the start of school and may be turned on at the end of the school day.<\/li>\n
    4. Cell phones are to be kept in backpacks or given to the teacher when she collects them at the beginning of the day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Students who do not obey the above rules shall be subject to the following progressive discipline procedures:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. First offense – the cell phone will be confiscated and sent to the office with a\u00a0behavior referral slip<\/strong>. \u00a0Parents will be called to pick up the cell phone.<\/li>\n
      2. Second offense \u00a0– the cell phone will be confiscated. \u00a0Parent will be called to meet with the principal.<\/li>\n
      3. Third offense – the cell phone will be confiscated and student will lose permission to bring the cell phone to school.<\/li>\n
      4. Subsequent Offense(s) – (defiance) – Additional parent contact and more severe disciplinary action -including but not limited to suspension..<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
