ASVAB Enlistment Test<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Senior and junior high school students who are serious about exploring their military options should take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). The ASVAB is a nine-part, three-hour test designed to identify a student’s aptitudes and strengths. Taking the ASVAB in no way obligates a student to the military. However, a student must obtain a minimum score on the ASVAB in order to enlist in the military. Recruiters usually make the testing arrangements for the ASVAB. The testing site will be at Kennedy High School during the 2023-24 academic year. This year’s test date has not been determined, but the test is typically\u00a0from 8:45 AM to 12 PM<\/strong>.\u00a0Please inquire in the College & Career Center for more information and registration.<\/p>\nSelective Service System<\/a><\/strong>
\nAccording to Federal Law, all men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. You must register with Selective Service to stay eligible for government jobs, job training, and obtaining or renewing a drivers license in most states. It’s no longer mandatory to qualify for government loans to college (on the FAFSA). Registration is easy and takes only a matter of minutes.\u00a0Go online or\u00a0visit the local US Post Office and ask for a registration card.\n

United States\u00a0Military Academies:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Military Academies are undergraduate colleges that prepare young people\u00a0to become professional officers in the United States Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy,\u00a0Coast Guard and Merchant Marines.\u00a0High school students who are\u00a0interested in\u00a0attending one of these academies\u00a0should begin the process as early as their sophomore year, but not later than\u00a0their Junior year.\u00a0For admissions information refer to the following websites:<\/p>\n
