PSAT and SAT Exams for 11th & 12th Grade Students
PSAT and SAT exams will be offered to select grade levels during the month of October 2024. The College Board no longer offers these exams in a paper and pencil format and has transitioned both the PSAT and SAT into an online digital format.
As a result of this change to a digital format, the PSAT will be administered throughout the month of October during a window of time selected by each high school. 11th grade students taking the PSAT will be informed of their specific test date by their school’s testing coordinator. 11th and 12th grade students taking the SAT will be informed of their specific test date by their school’s testing coordinator. These tests will be administered during the school day at the student’s school. Here is an overview by grade level:
PSAT/NMSQT for 11th grade students:
All 11th grade students will have the option of taking the PSAT at no cost. The cost is covered by the FUSD Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Parents/guardians may opt their student out of taking this test. 11th grade students
can take the PSAT during this administration in order to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
SAT for 11th and 12th grade students:
All 11th and 12 th grade students may choose to take the SAT as part of the “SAT School Day” program which allows for the SAT to be administered at their school during a school day rather than on a Saturday outside of FUSD. The SAT will
take approximately four hours to complete and costs $100. The College Board no longer offers SAT Subject Tests or the SAT with Essay. The College Board does allow for a reduced cost for eligible students and families.
Students in 11th and 12th grade who want to take the SAT will need to register through this link. The registration window will be open Wednesday, August 14, 2024 through Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 5:00 pm. Payment will be collected separately by schools prior to the test administration. Students in 11th grade will automatically be ordered a PSAT/NMSQT test unless their parent/guardian chooses to opt the student out.
