About the Science Magnet Program
Fremont Unified's Science Magnet program is hosted at Mattos Elementary. Mattos is centrally located in Fremont off Mowry Ave. near 880, offers a "Soaring into Science" program that turns natural curiosity into a unique learning experience for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The program uses approved district and state curriculum standards and enhances these with additional programs, such as the Programming For Kids (P4K) initiative that introduces students to computer programming and the Math-Science Nucleus partnership that brings docents into the classroom to teach hands-on science.
In addition, Mattos has an active PTA-sponsored Science Committee that organizes such events as the annual the annual Astronomy Night, an annual Family Science Night and other extracurricular science-based activities.
