Welcome to Brier Elementary School 2023-2024!
Brier is very proud to be known as a collaborative school where student achievement and well-being is at the center of all decision made. Over the years, our dedicated teachers, support staff and administration have worked tirelessly to ensure our students meet their academic and affective potential. Our commitment to excellence, embracing high expectations, holding ourselves and students accountable and embracing Bronco PRIDE and restorative practices, is what propels our school toward continuous improvement. Thus, Brier has been recognized for numerous awards: 2000, 2002, 2009 and 2016 California Gold Ribbon of Excellence and 2009 and 2016 Gold Ribbon Award of Excellence for Title 1 Schools. In 2007 Brier received the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award.
Two years ago, Brier implemented Bronco PRIDE. This encompasses learning about and celebrating the many cultures represented here. Students are expected to come prepared to actively engage in learning each day with a growth mindset, be respectful to all, make a positive impact with helpful words and actions, be a disciplined learner by always trying their best and challenging their mind, and to explore by making new discoveries and not fearing mistakes. Our overarching personal standards are to 1) Show Respect, 2) Make Good Decisions, and 3) Solve Problems.
Brier recognizes the importance of establishing a partnership between home and school. Each family plays an integral role in their child’s education. Research is clear that when families engage in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of reaching academic success. When students know parents are taking an interest in and participate in learning activities, they understand the importance of school. Thus, we highly encourage parents/guardians to become active participants at Brier. We invite you to attend Coffee Talk with the Principal, join the School Site Council or English Language Advisory Committee, or attend one of our many evening events. Please share with us how we can best support your child’s learning. We are looking forward to another productive year celebrating our scholars’ growth and successes.
