Hopkins Principal’s Newsletter 12/7/2024
December 7, 2024
Dear Hopkins Families,
It has been an eventful week of multiple emergency warnings. We are grateful for our staff who calmly follow safety protocols, for our collaboration with Fremont Police so that we have credible information and updates, and for all of our families — your conversations at home about emergency preparedness helps kids stay calm in these situations as well. Many students asked me what happened after our Friday’s evacuation, and I appreciated their questions to seek facts. We also work hard to send you an update as soon as possible whenever we have an unexpected emergency that requires a school-wide response.
On a separate note, we would like to shout out to the hard work of our Child Nutrition Staff Ms. Nguyen, Ms. Shih, Ms. Brooks, and Supervisor Mr. Morales. Their creative thinking adjusted our lunch and pizza lines to the MUR and increased lunches served by 100 students each day. All of our students have been able to pick up a meal within 10 minutes.Â
Counselors’ 12/4 Presentation: If you were not able to attend the evening presentation on 12/4, or would like to review the information, please see this link to our counselors’Â Middle School, High School, and Beyond Parent Presentation.Â
Types of Emergencies: At the 12/4 PFA meeting, we discussed the types of emergency at school and our protocols. Please see our slides here so you can review with your child(ren).Â
Hopkins’ Student Performances:We have upcoming events to showcase our students’ musical talents, and hope you are able to attend —
Dream Achievers’ Concert Performance: Dream Achievers is a band of musicians with Autism. For many years they have been coming to Hopkins to elevate our holiday spirit with a winter concert. This year is no exception; they will be giving a holiday concert on Wednesday, 12/18, during the morning PE classes in our gym.Â
Minimum Day Schedule: On Thursday 12/19 and Friday 12/20, school ends at 12:35 PM. Please see the attached image for details. AC Transit buses operate at their usual Thursday and Friday pickup times of approximately 2:35 PM. Please make pickup arrangements on those dates. Save the Dates:Â
