Hopkins Principal’s Newsletter – 11/17/2024
A big thank you to our campus safety supervisors Mr. Pedro and Mr. Rich. Besides ensuring that no unauthorized individuals are on school grouds during school hours, they are supervising students before school, during passing periods and lunch, and after school. In and outside of class, when students have injuries or health concerns, they are the calming presence who transport students to the office for further care. In addition, shout out to Ms. Dali and Ms. Leanne, our noon duty supervisors who safeguard students at the crosswalks before and after school. We also deeply appreciate all of our parent volunteers who are supporting student supervision before school and during lunchtime. It takes a village to ensure the safety of our kids at school!
Girls Basketball Tryouts: Just another friendly reminder to students interested in trying out for our Girls Basketball teams, please make sure you do the following:
- Online Application (due Friday, 11/22) -- this gives Coach Julia enough time to coordinate the tryout schedule for interested students
- Signed Tryout Permission Slip . Turn in signed permission slip to office prior to tryouts or bring to the tryouts.
You MUST have a signed tryout permission slip AND submit application by deadline to try out! See the attached flyer for more information. Email Coach Julia at juliashih@msn.com if you have follow-up questions.
Choir Concert: The combined choirs of Mission San Jose High School and Hopkins Middle School would like to invite you to their concert on Tuesday, December 10th, at 7:00 PM in the Smith Center at Ohlone College! Our singers have been working very, very hard, and I'm proud of how much they've grown this year. We'll be presenting a concert of everything from folk music to classical repertoire to holiday songs. We hope to see you there!
Anonymous Report of Student Concerns: Starting this year, our district is implementing a free app -- Say Something -- that allows students to make anonymous reports of safety concerns any time of the day, any day of the week. All of our students received training in October. Parents/guardians can view a family presentation here. Students can also make anonymous reports via texting, calling, or reporting on the website. Please see below.
- Submit a tip online:Â saysomething.net
- Text "tip" to "79775"
- Download the Say Something Anonymous Reporting App from the Apple or Google Play App store -- see attached flyer for directions
- Call 1-844-5-SayNow (1-844-572-9669)
A trained counselor will be responding to student reports and forwarding them to our school administration team for any necessary follow-ups. Students and parents can always communicate with us directly with concerns about a student's behavior and/or socio-emotional support:
