Hopkins Principal’s Newsletter 2/2/2025
Dear Hopkins Families,
We had a busy week. Many thanks to our Mandarin Immersion teachers Ms. Ji Guan, Ms. Lin McCarthy, and Ms. Haidi Wang, students, parent volunteers, and CIPCF (Chinese Immersion Parents' Council of Fremont), the whole school enjoyed a day of Lunar New Year celebrations from photobooth to Kungfu demonstrations, lion and dragon performances, and fun learning activities. Our counselors and administration team visited all 6th and 7th grade math classes to talk about course registration for next year. Important Upcoming Dates for 2025-2026 Registration:Â

- Monday, 2/3: Course Registration packets due back to math teachers -- we encourage you to take a photo of the course selection page for your reference.
- Tuesday, 2/11: Courselors and administrators will guide students to select courses on Aeries (using their registration packets) during math.
- (For Current 7th Graders)
- Monday, 2/3: Course Registration packets due back to math teachers -- we encourage you to take a photo of the course selection page for your reference.
- Friday, 2/7:Â Courselors and administrators will guide students to select courses on Aeries (using their registration packets) during math.
- (For Current 8th Graders)
- Wednesday, 2/5: MSJHS counselors' presentation in math classes
- Thursday, 2/6, 4 PM: MSJHS Familly Presentation @ MSJHS Room C120
- If you have general questions, please use this Google Form to submit them, as there will be no time to answer live questions due to time constraints. This form will close on Thursday, February 6th at 8AM.
- Thursday, 2/6, 6-8 PM: Washington High School Open House
Safe Space for All Students, Families, and Staff: Hopkins remains committed to being a safe school where every student, staff member, and family feels welcomed and supported, regardless of immigration status. We are also committed to ensuring that transgender and non-binary students, staff, and families are valued and respected in our community. We will continue to follow California law and prioritize safety, dignity, and privacy for all. Our district has the following resource pages that will continue to be updated:
- Resources for Immigrant Families page includes local and state-level resources as a starting point. We will continue to update the page as the situation evolves.
- Our Federal & State Programs Department also provides Immigrant Resources on its website, where you can learn more about your constitutional rights, learn what to do when encountering law enforcement regarding immigration, and access collections of resources.
Boys Volleyball Tryouts: 6th - 8th grade students interested in joining our Boys Volleyball A and B teams must turn in their signed Tryout Permission forms to Coach Walker or the Main Office before participating in tryouts. A hard copy of the tryout permission form is also available for pickup from the Main Office (opens Monday-Friday, 7:30-3:30 PM). Please contact Coach Walker (mwalker@fusdk12.net) if you have any questions.

Ramadan Resource Team: Students, if you would like to join a student team to create resources and educational material for our Hopkins community to deepen our understanding and inclusivity, please email me (nkuei@fusdk12.net) by Thursday, 2/6. We will start meeting during Read period to work on this initiative together.
(For 8th Grade Families) Donations to PFA for 8th Grade Promotion Celebrations: We have not reached PFA's funraise goal for 8th grade promotion celebrations. Please see the donation flyer here and contribute if you are able. PFA is planning an Aqua Adventure trip and a campus carnival for all of our 8th graders to mark the end of their middle school journey!

February begins the Black History Month. Our Black Student Union students, with Ms. Peta Robinson's guidance, have been preparing educational and celebratory opportunities for our school community. I am deeply thankful to be a part of our vibrant Hawk Nation.
