Congrats to Advanced Orchestra to Perform at Convention in January

Advanced Orchestra of Hopkins to Perform at Prestigious State Convention

The Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) congratulates the talented musicians of Hopkins Middle School for their remarkable achievement and celebrates the ongoing excellence of music education across our schools. FUSD is thankful for all of the support from parents and staff that helps facilitate these musicians' opportunity and success.

The Advanced Orchestra of Hopkins has been invited to perform at the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) State Convention in Sacramento in January 2026. Each year, only two orchestras from across the entire state receive this prestigious honor. Fifty-four students are planning to perform. The program is a challenging 40 minutes long, more music than the group normally learns in an entire year.

This invitation recognizes the students’ exceptional musicianship, dedication, and artistry. The orchestra will perform before an audience of several hundred music educators from throughout California, showcasing both their technical skill and expressive performance style.

Mr. Zack Larsen, Superintendent of Schools, expressed his excitement:

“Our students have worked incredibly hard to reach this level. It’s a great opportunity for them to share their musical passion with educators throughout the state.”

The school community proudly applauds this recognition and celebrates the wonderful opportunity for these young musicians to shine on a statewide stage. Performing at the CMEA State Convention is a major highlight for both the Hopkins music program and the school district. FUSD extends sincere appreciation to Mr. Jason Sarten, Director of Band and Orchestra at Hopkins, for his exceptional leadership and contributions.
