Hopkins Principal’s Newsletter 8/17/2025

Dear Hopkins Families,

We look forward to welcoming parents/guardians to our Back to School Night on Wednesday, 8/20, starting at 5:45 PM. This is a great time to meet with your child’s teachers and hear about the year’s learning goals and activities. See Back to School Night details and school map here. 

Girls Volleyball Team Updates: We are still in search of a Girls Volleyball coach. Interested candidates should email me ([email protected]) their resumes and cover letters. 

Wellness Room Soft Opening: Starting Monday, 8/18, our new Wellness Room located in the D-nest will open for one hour after school. Space is limited to 20 students. If your child is interested, please have them head directly to the Wellness Room directly after school. Students may leave the Wellness Room at any time, but once they check out will not be allowed back in. Any questions, you can email Ms. Gina, Wellness Coach at [email protected]

Book Fair: Check out the Book Fair in our Library from 8/18-8/22. This is a great opportunity to build your child’s home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again. The easiest way to let your child shop the Fair independently is by creating an eWallet (see more information here). It’s easy to set up and easy for others to add funds. Opening Hours: 

• 7:45 – 8 AM
• During school hours, students will be visiting with English teachers.
• 2:30 – 3:30 PM
• Back to School Night on Wednesday, 8/20, 5:45-7:45 PM

PFA Donations: Our PFA, the Parent-Faculty Association, would like to encourage all families to donate to our non-profit organization. All donations collected will be used to work alongside the Hopkins Staff towards as goal of supporting and appreciating staff, improving student curriculum and school events and beautification of the school. We will accept donations all yearlong, but it’s most beneficial at the start of the year when we are planning and budgeting for the current school year! Thank you!  Donate online via PayPal or write a check “Hopkins PFA” (Submit to Hopkins Main Office with this donation form).

Hawk Bulletin: Our students watch the Hawk Bulletin at the start of 1st period every day to stay informed of school events, club meetings, and other important information. This is also posted on our school website each day. We encourage families to also check out these short videos and use them as conversation starters at home. Drama Club Auditions: Come audition for our stage performance on Tuesdays, 9/2, 9/9, and 9/16, during lunch @ Room B112. Email Ms. Boteilho ([email protected]) if you have any questions. 

Talent Show Auditions: We know that Hopkins’ got talents! Come audition on Tuesday, 9/16, 2:30-3:30 PM @ MUR. Email Ms. Boteilho ([email protected]) if you have any questions. 

Student Clubs: Our clubs are initiated by students based on their interest, and may change from year to year. Students who are interested in starting a club should complete the following steps:

1. Find a staff member to be your club advisor and work out a weekly club meeting time when they are able to supervise your club meetings.
2. Brainstorm activities that will take place during your club meetings. 
3. Create a slide that has your club’s information, share it with your club advisor to be included in the Hawk Bulletin. 

Field Sports during Lunchtime: Students may bring their own basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc. for a friendly game with others during lunch. The ball must be carried inside a bag during school hours.
