Title I Program

Did you know that many of the services and interventions at Washington High School are supported by Title I funding?

Title I, Part A is a federal grant which provides federal funding to schools, under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Act of 1965, to help students who are behind academically, or at risk of falling behind. The purpose of this title is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. 

The funds for each school district are based on a State formula that is calculated by the number of students from economically disadvantaged homes. Services provided with federal funds are based on the academic needs of students.  

Title I is intended to supplement, not replace, state and district funds. 

Each school receiving Title I, Part A federal funding must develop a plan for how the funding will improve student achievement. You can find Washington's School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) here: Washington's SPSA Plan

As a parent, you have the right to be involved in your student’s education. You also have the opportunity to work together in a mutually supportive and respectful partnership with schools, and to help your children succeed in school. You may participate in School Site Council and other family engagement events to provide feedback to the school and input into the ways to serve students.
