AVID

What is AVID?

AVID is a college readiness system designed to increase the number of students who enroll and persist in four-year colleges and universities. AVID is an approved elective course taken during the school day. For one class period a day, AVID students learn organizational and study skills, focus on critical thinking skills, learn to ask probing questions and get academic help from peers and college tutors.

AVID targets students in the academic middle who have the desire to go to college who may be the first in their families to go to college and who are willing to work hard in college preparatory classes instead of remediation. Students interested in applying to AVID should contact us at WHS.

We appreciate all donations to help fund our college field trips and college readiness activities! Please make checks payable to WHS AVID.  Thank you in advance!!!
