April 8 Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8 a total solar eclipse will cross North America. While some areas of the United States will be in the path of totality (this is when the moon fully blocks the face of the sun), viewers from Fremont will see a partial eclipse, with a peak of 35.5% coverage at 11:13am (click here to use NASA's Eclipse Explorer to find information by zip code).

Schools and classrooms in Fremont Unified have varied plans for students during this event, ranging from viewing the eclipse, to staying indoors.

Across all schools, staff will be mindful of student safety, as viewing an eclipse directly can be extremely harmful to our eyes. We also encourage parents/guardians to go over safety measures with students (find tips in the links below).
