A Message from Principal Mason

Dear Ardenwood Families,

It’s beginning to feel a bit more like autumn–a few more cloudy days, a bit of rain and a chill in the air. Dragons are looking forward to Walk and Roll to School, the Diwali Festival, our Great Shakeout Drill, the Costume Parade and our Annual Ardenwood Harvest Festival–it’s definitely going to be a busy month! Our TK/K students in room 38 will be participating in the Special Olympics on Tuesday, October 21st–Go Dragons!  And finally, we are super excited to have our new school secretary on board–welcome Crystal Nevarez!

Upcoming Events:

10/7 - ELAC, 5 pm Zoom; PTA Association Meeting, 7 pm Zoom
10/8 - Walk and Roll to School
10/14 - Dragon Dash Kickoff--Actual Dash is 11/6--mark your calendar!
10/16 - Great Shakeout Drill
10/17 - Ardenwood Diwali Festival, 5-7 pm
10/23 - Minimum Day - Grades 1-5
10/24 - No School
10/29 - Harvest Festival. 5-6:30 pm
10/31 - Ardenwood Costume Parade, 8:45 am, Playground; Minimum Day - Grades 1-5

Doctor’s Appointments: Scheduling students’ doctors appointments after school or on non-school days is recommended. This minimizes the impact on your Dragon’s time away from school and limits missed instruction. If you need to pick up early for an appointment, please schedule at “non-recess or non-lunch” times as it may take a while to locate your student on the playground or in the dining area. Thank you for your attention to this matter and please reach out with any questions or feedback.

Ardenwood is ready for an Outstanding October!

Arrival/Dismissal
Thank you for using our drive through loops for drop offs and pick ups. If you are escorting your student to campus, please say your goodbyes at the perimeter of the campus (unless you are volunteering). Dismissal is structured to support families in easily and efficiently reconnecting with their students at the end of the school day. For your reference, here is the school map which outlines the suggested pickup locations by grade level.

Volunteers
Thanks to all parents/guardians for your support and volunteering in classrooms and throughout our campus. Ardenwood welcomes any parents/guardians/caregivers to volunteer with us! Please complete the annual clearance form here.

School Rules
Check out Dragon Rules here and review them with your student. We appreciate your support!

QUESTIONS???

If you have any questions, concerns or feedback, please feel free to reach out to your student’s classroom teacher, our office team or myself. We are here to support our students and families!

🚶🚲🛴 International Walk & Roll to School Day is October 8th!
Join Ardenwood Elementary for International Walk and Roll to School Day! We will celebrate our school spirit, our health, and the environment with the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools program. This year, our school will celebrate in-person at the schoolyard. With your family and friends, you can participate by:
·     Taking a walk, or riding a bike, skateboard, or scooter
·     Biking with your child on their own or with a trail-a-bike
·     Taking the bus with your child and walking to and from the bus stop
·     Joining a Walking School Bus or a Bike Train
Post a fun photo on social media to celebrate the day! Remember to tag @AlamedaCoSR2S on X/Twitter with #WalkandRoll25 and #IWR2SD, and post on Facebook at facebook.com/saferoutestoschool.
Please consider volunteering to help make this event successful! This only takes a small amount of your time, but will bring big smiles to the children at our school. Sign up to help the children tally how they got to school and hand out event pencils! Sign up by clicking the link here
We look forward to walking and rolling with you!
