Good Morning and Happy Sunday Cabrillo Families,
I hope you all had a relaxing Spring break. Time to turn our attention to the final lap of the school year - we have 7 remaining weeks and they will fly by very quickly.

Open House
I am very pleased to announce that Cabrillo will be holding an Open House in person on Tuesday, April 25th. Open House is an opportunity for students to showcase their work and share with families their learning throughout the year. Teachers will open their classrooms at 6:45 for this happy return to an annual celebration of learning.

This closes yet another chapter on the pandemic playbook. It has been four long years since we have been able to welcome families on campus to an in person Open House (April 7, 2019) and we will do so in style

This year’s Open House features a pair of food trucks from the Food Truck Mafia serving gourmet treats to our families starting at 5:00. I anticipate a warm sunny evening starting with a shared meal in the Cabrillo courtyard followed by a tour of your students’ good work in the classroom.

 

SBAC Parent Night
Come to the Cabrillo Cove Wednesday, April 19 at 6:00 to learn about the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBAC) given to students in grades 3-6. Cabrillo will begin administration of the SBAC the first week of May. I have included a link to the schedule in the email you received today.
The Smarter Balanced is a computer-based assessment system. It’s a true teaching tool designed and built by the states using it that helps educators accurately measure and support each student’s progress throughout the school year. Please come on Wednesday, April 19th and learn how you can help your student at home prepare for this high stakes test.

 

Yearbook Sale
Our yearbooks are nearly sold out; we only have 25 more copies for sale this year which we anticipate will sell out very quickly. The yearbook can only be purchased online. Soccer Season
Soccer Season is underway! The boys and girls teams provide a wonderful afternoon of sporting excitement. Our next match is against Forest Park on Thursday, April 20 starting at 3:30 for the girl’s game and 4:30 for the boy’s game. Forest Park’s home field is located at American High School. Come join your fellow community members on the girl’s soccer field at American. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the excitement. Follow the progress of both teams on the Cabrillo website.
