October 2022 Monthly Message

October Monthly Message – Sunday, October 30, 2022

Good Morning Cabrillo Families!

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are around the corner. I can not believe how fast this year is flying! Your student’s teacher will be sending out an online conference sign up form by Wednesday, November 2nd. The online sign-up gives you the ability to select a time that works best with your schedule. Parents who do not sign-up for a conference by November 10 will be assigned a slot for Thursday, November 17 or Friday, November 18.
This is a good time to ask questions like, “What are my student’s strongest/weakest subject areas; which subjects does s/he likes most and least”
Also, listen carefully to what your student’s teacher says. If you don’t understand something that the teacher talks about (an educational term, or an explanation of a school policy) don’t be afraid to ask for clarification. Also, ask the teacher for specific suggestions of ways that you can help your child at home in their classroom for one. Linked to the email sent today is a checklist of questions you may want to refer to during your conference.
This is also a good time to share information you want the teacher to know. This can include information about any major changes in your family, habits, hobbies, or anything that may clarify your student’s academic experience for the teacher.

Coffee with the Principal
PTA is hosting a Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, November 9th at 8:30 in the cafeteria. This month will feature PTA’s plans for a fundraiser. You can now register for our Wildcat Race! PTA’s goal is to raise $10,000 for classroom supplies, garden improvements and our Spring Field Day. Registering is easy and free!

Halloween Parade
Our Halloween Parade will be held Monday, October 31 starting at 8:45. TK and Kinder will parade on the Kinder playground, grades 1-3 will walk with Mrs. Centeno and grades 4-6 will walk with Mr. C. The students will first walk around the playground following the blue line then enter the courtyard before ending their parade near their classrooms. Parents are welcome to watch the children from the courtyard but may not come onto the playground (yellow line). Following the parade, your students will change out of their costumes and resume their studies.
