Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders!
|
Morning Drop Off has been getting a little better each day. We have over 700 students that need to get to school in a very small space. PULL ALL the way FORWARD. PARENTS must STAY in the car. Please ABIDE by our traffic FLOW MAP.
Please then continue out of the loop as quickly and safely as possible once your student is out of the car. The few seconds that families take to say goodbye or wave to their child adds us. We probably have at least 50% of our families that drive. 350 students getting dropped off x 5 seconds to wave/say goodbye = 1,750 seconds = 29 MINUTES!
After school Pick Up still needs all families to follow the same loop expecations as the morning.
If you are a parent of a TK or K student, you will need to park on the street and walk to the campus to pick up your student. There is NO DOUBLE PARKING allowed.
These drop-off and pick-up procedures were suggestions from the traffic safety assessment that was conducted last year by the City of Fremont. Click below if you would like to see the Durham's Traffic Assessment Next Steps.

TRAFFIC LOOP FLOW MAP - Flagpole Loop
|
We wanted to remind you that If you want to use the Flagpole Loop, you MUST come from the Mission View direction. Many cars are still coming from the Baylis direction and turning right into the Flagpole Loop. This is causing a backup because this disrupts the loop flow. Starting on Monday, September 9th, there will be cones placed at the entrance of the Flagpole Loop to prevent cars from making right turns into the loop. If you have been doing this, please make the adjustments to your schedule to provide you with the time you need to enter the Flagpole Loop from the Mission View direction.

Durham Annual Fun Run Fundraiser!
|
Durham will be hosting it's 10th Annual Fun Run event on 9/24 and 9/26. This is our one and only fundraiser that helps support your student's teacher. Teachers try to use these funds for materials for class projects, field trips, special activities, and new equipment for the classroom and students.
Families and friends can sponsor a student per lap or with a flat donation. Checks and cash will be accepted, but we prefer online donations as it is easier to process. More information will be sent home this week.

We are in need of BACKPACK hooks for every classroom. Right now, our teachers and students do their best to keep backpacks tidy, but without proper hanging units, they often create areas that are messy and take up spake in the classrooms. The safety hooks that we would like to get cost about $500/classroom. If you would like to make a donation to our backpack hook fund, please follow the link below. Please be sure to select "general school donation" and then put in the comments box "backpack hooks". If your company has a matching donor program, this would be a great way to invest in our school!

Our counselor, Mr. Justin Castro, would like to create a Wellness Center at Durham! Wellness centers are places where students can take a mental health break from a stressful situation at school. The center provides a calming environment for students to come and engage in doing something to help take their mind off of the stressor so that they can process how they want to positively respond. Students can also talk to Mr. Castro during this time if they need someone to talk to. Time to calm down and reflect in the wellness center should be short (no more than about 10 minutes) and can vary depending on each individual student's needs.
To help Mr. Castro create an engaging and calming Wellness Center, please consider granting him items from his Amazon Wish List!
