PTA CORNER
Welcome to the new school year! We are excited to begin another year of growth, learning, and community together.
We are happy to share that your FP PTA is now National PTA recognized – School of Excellence 2023-2025. This was made possible because we worked closely with our school admin/teachers/staff, the volunteer time from parents/guardians, memberships, and generous donations from our community. With your membership donations and support, we brought a variety of enriching events for our children in 2023-24.
The FP PTA Board warmly invites you to join us for our presentation on Back-to-School Night. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about our plans for the year, meet fellow parents, and discover how you can be a part of making a positive impact on our school community. We look forward to seeing you there!
Let’s continue to be compassionate and supportive of our community.
-Your Forest Park PTA Board 2024-25.

FORGOTTEN HOMEWORK OR ITEMS We will not interrupt teaching and learning with messages about forgotten homework or items. Our students deserve the best learning environment free from interruptions. However, emergency information will be forwarded to students; such as a change in transportation plans. Please try to make after school arrangements ahead of time. Forgotten homework or items may be brought to the office and left on the counter. Label it appropriately. Students will be regularly reminded that if they expect their parents to bring an item, it will be on the office counter at their next recess. Allowing students to call home from the classroom for a forgotten item is discouraged but left to the teacher’s discretion. We will not interrupt instruction and learning to alert a student that an item has been brought to the office. Arriving at school prepared for the day is ultimately a student’s responsibility.

INFORMATION REGARDING BOARD POLICY 6158 ON INDEPENDENT STUDY CONTRACTS Short-term voluntary Independent Study programs may extend for no fewer than five (5) and not more than ten (10) consecutive school days. Only one (1) Independent Study per school year in grades K to 12. The parent must notify the school administrator of intentions to go on a trip or to be absent for other non-medical reasons at least ten (10) school days prior to the absence. Thirty (30) days is preferable to allow for the approval process. Students whose achievement is below grade level standards, based on multiple measures, in Language Arts or Math are not eligible for short term Independent Study. Students may not be on short-term independent study more than three (3) times while in Grades K-12. Students who have previously been granted an Independent Study and have not successfully completed and returned the work on or before the due date of their Independent Study, are not eligible for any subsequent short-term Independent Study. There are no Independent Studies issued the first twenty (20) school days of the year. No Independent Studies will be given for any of the last twenty (20) days of the school year. SEVERE ALLERGIES AT SCHOOL Please contact the school nurse if your student has a severe allergy requiring medication(s) at school. We have several students who are allergic to foods, especially nuts. When exposed to nuts, especially by eating them, but sometimes just by touching nuts or their oils, or breathing their fumes/particles, these students may break into hives, or have their airways swell up and they could stop breathing! Please help us to keep all of our students safe and healthy at school. Talk to your children about not sharing their food, lunches, etc. with other students ever
