All Schools Open, Activities Modified for Air Quality
|
Dear Fremont Unified Community,Â
We are experiencing poor air quality in our area due to fires in Northern California and Oregon.Â
All schools are open, with some modifications to minimize the impact of the poor air quality on students and staff:
Windows and doors will remain closed to maintain healthy air quality indoors
HVAC and air filtration systems will be used where possible to improve indoor air
Physical education classes will be indoors to the extent possible, with no vigorous activities outdoors
Recess and lunch will be held indoors to the extent possible, with a goal of minimizing the amount of time students and staff are outdoors
After-school activities/sports will be modified as needed, please await specific information from your student’s school
Our District is continuing to monitor local air quality using several sources, including AirNow , and will refer to the recommended activity modifications for specified air quality levels  from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District .
Students and staff may wish to wear a face covering, such as an N-95 mask. Limited quantities of face coverings may be available for those with respiratory needs, such as asthma, in our front offices.Â
Employees who work outdoors should consult with their immediate supervisor for modifications and/or additional safety measures.
Current information will be posted to our website, and the District and/or sites will send further communication if any action is needed.
Sincerely,Â
CJ Cammack
Superintendent
