Playground
PLAYGROUND AND PLAY STRUCTURES CLOSED BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
For safety reasons, please be reminded that the playground and the school play structures are closed from 8:00 am before school until 3:30 pm. During this time the structures are not open to the public as well. Parents/guardians we need your support and assistance with this. No students/siblings should be playing on any play structure or riding bikes/scooters around the campus between these hours. Thank you for your help.

What is Positive Behavior Interventions and Support?
PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. It is a systems approach to enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all children by developing research-based, school-wide, and classroom behavior support systems. The process focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. Rather than a prescribed program, PBIS provides systems for schools to design, implement, and evaluate effective school-wide, classroom, non-classroom, and student specific plans. PBIS includes school-wide procedures and processes intended for all students and all staff in all settings. PBIS is not a program or a curriculum. It is a team-based process for systemic problem solving, planning, and evaluation. It is an approach to creating a safe and productive learning environment where teachers can teach and all students can learn.
What is PBIS at our school?
We have adopted a unified set of school rules. These rules define our expectations for behavior in our school. You will see these rules posted throughout the school and your child will be learning them throughout the school year. Our unified classroom rules, found in every classroom and non-classroom setting in the school, are as follows:

I am Timely
I am Accountable
I am Respectful
As part of our PBIS process, teachers and other staff members this to increase student learning and decrease classroom disruptions and reward students with STAR Bucks. We also acknowledge students at our PBIS assemblies with a STAR or Wolverine Award as determined by the classroom teacher.

WINTER STAR WARS CHALLENGE
Grade levels, first-third, and fourth-fifth will compete to see which one grade will get the most STAR BUCKs between December 2th-18th AND earn a special game session on Dec 19th.

Dear Forest Park Families, 
As the holiday season approaches, the PTA is excited to bring the spirit of joy and togetherness to our school community! Here’s a look at the upcoming events and activities we’ve planned to make this season extra special for our children and families:
  • Holiday Shop – Monday -Friday, December 9th - 13th (Look out for more information during the 1st week of December)
  • Math Olympiad Tests (4th & 5th Graders) – Monday, December 2nd, 16th, January 12th, February 10th, March 17th (Details will be sent through email)
  • Science Club Speech Competition (3rd, 4th & 5th Graders) – Friday, December 6th (Click here to register)

As we wrap up the year, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and involvement. Your participation makes all the difference in creating memorable experiences and opportunities for our students. COUNSELOR'S CORNER
I would like to invite your child to our counseling group. The goal of this group is to help students learn important skills that will help them develop positive behaviors for school success. The topic that will be covered in this group will be Growth Mindset.
This group will meet once per week for 30 minutes. We will start the week of December 2nd and meet for 6 weeks. It will be facilitated by Ms. Kim, the School Counselor.
What is a growth mindset?  
Growth mindset is a learner’s belief that their intelligence can expand and develop. In contrast, fixed mindset is a learner’s belief that their intelligence is a fixed, immutable trait. Research has shown that when students have a growth mindset, they are more likely to challenge themselves, believe that they can achieve more, and become stronger, more resilient and creative problem solvers.
