Walk of the Wolverines

 Annual Fundraiser is coming

Friday, October 20, 2023

The last time Forest Park held this fundraiser, funds were directed right back to our classrooms and supported school projects.  Thanks to the generosity of our community, teachers and staff were able to provide educational assemblies, on-site presentations, walk-through history, computer programs, library books, Chromebooks, field trips, etc. to our students.

Our goal is to raise $45,000 with 70% going directly back to classrooms and 30% being used on school-wide projects.

A Walk of the Wolverines flier will be sent home on Friday, October 6, 2023 with more information.  We will also be looking for volunteers to help that day.

Let’s crush that goal and continue to make Forest Park one of the top schools in all of Fremont.

UN DAY PARADE AND HALLOWEEN

UN Day Parade and assembly will be on Friday, October 27, at 9:00 a.m. for grades 1-5.

Our annual Halloween Walk About will be on Tuesday, October 31, at 9:00 a.m. for grades 1-5.

Guests are welcome to view each of these events- we will have a NEW parade route.  Students and staff will parade down the Maybird sidewalk towards Deep Creek and back around to the campus.

Visitors may view the parade by standing along the perimeter of the field (on the grass).

Halloween Costumes:  Please remember that the regular dress code applies to costumes.  Children must be able to change into and out of their own costumes without assistance and weapons or other dangerous props should not be brought to school. We are still conducting instruction during the remainder of the day.  Your child may want to wear regular clothes under their costume so they can remove their costume for the remainder of the day.  We will not be responsible for lost costumes at school.

From Oct 3rd on, only the volunteers approved through CiviCore will be allowed to come on campus to volunteer for school sponsored events.   You only have to submit an application ONE time each school year.

In the application, the volunteers need to check  “On campus with supervision” for the type of volunteering.  Complete *(required) sections only.  Volunteers who are at a school for Friday folders, reading, library, walk of the wolverines, and other help must always remain under the direct supervision of a certificated/ classified employee for the duration of their visit.  No fingerprinting is required unless told otherwise.

Counselor News

In October, I will be visiting classrooms to talk about Red Ribbon Week and Bullying prevention. (Topics will be discussed in an age-appropriate manner) Please use family dinner times to discuss ways to reduce youth substance abuse and other risky behaviors.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University found that the more often kids eat dinner with their families (five to seven per week), the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs. It is important to establish a routine with your children and dinner is the easiest way for engagement and communication.

AS A COMMITMENT TO HELPING MY CHILD "GROW UP SAFE, HEALTHY, AND DRUG FREE", I PLEDGE TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Aim to eat dinner together 3-4 times a week. Use family dinner as an opportunity to really connect with my children.

  2. Talk to my kids and set clear rules about not using drugs, work with my children’s friends’ parents to set common boundaries and share this message with family and friends.

  3. Secure and take regular inventory of my medication, safely dispose of unused/expired medication, and share this message with family and friends.
