Friday, September 9: 12:42pm dismissal today at Irvington High School

Dear Irvington High School Parents/Guardians,

Irvington High School is dismissing early at 12:42pm today, September 9, 2022. Students will be dismissed for lunch, and may then leave school. Lunch will be available for students who planned to eat at school. Students who usually depart school independently (walk, bike, personal car, etc.) will leave campus by their normal mode of transportation. Students who need rides may be picked up in the horseshoe in the front of the campus.

Students still on campus at 1:15pm will remain under supervision in one of the spaces not impacted by the current power/air conditioning loss to await pick-up.

Students who use Special Education transportation services will be able to board their normal transport at dismissal; parents/guardians will receive a direct phone call to confirm details, and may call Transportation Dispatch at (510) 657-1450 ext. 13147 with questions.

This early dismissal is out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our students and staff. While today’s temperatures are a bit cooler, our system currently has less overall functionality due to power supply issues. Today, we had a new development in our ongoing power interruptions that we are unable to immediately repair in order to restore adequate conditions for our students and staff.

All appropriate District and site staff, and outside contractors, have been deployed and have worked diligently to resolve the situation over the past few days. While short-term solutions have allowed us to continue operations to this point, today a majority of the campus is without cooled air indoors.

FUSD has an outside contractor on site that will continue their work today and through the weekend to fully resolve this issue.

Instruction and activities at Irvington will resume with a normal schedule on Monday, September 12, 2022.

Sincerely,

Stan Hicks, Principal, Irvington High School
CJ Cammack, Superintendent, Fremont Unified School District
