Happy End of September!
October is going to be an extremely busy month (see above). There are a lot of wonderful opportunities for your family to be engaged in our community.
Family Conferences will also be happening from October 22-24. Here is a brief overview of what conferences will look like this year.
- Conferences will take place at Mattos in the afternoons of October 22 and 23. THESE ARE MINIMUM DAYS FOR STUDENTS IN K-GRADE 5.
- Conferences will take place on Friday, October 24th. THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON THIS DAY FOR STUDENTS.
- Teachers will be sending out information to sign up on Wednesday, October 1st. Please sign up for a day and time. Conferences are to take place from October 22-24 only, except in approved cases.
- Given the number of conferences each teacher has, time is fairly limited. Please come prepared with any positive input for the teacher about your child's year so far and also any concerns that the teacher and family can work on together.
- This year, the conference will be a snapshot of where your child is at in meeting the expectations of the grade level. Teachers will provide work samples and anecdotal feedback.
- Trimester 1 ends on November 7th. This is not long after the conference, so there shouldn't be any surprises for their first trimester report card.
- On November 21st, families can access the first trimester report card in Aeries.
We believe in a growth model for success. Over the course of the school year, we look forward to working with you to see growth in your child's academics, behavior, and social emotional learning. As principal, I review iReady scores and report cards to monitor all students, but also subgroups of students. Our PBIS Team reviews behavior data to see what minor behaviors are occurring, where, why. Our MTSS Leadership Team also reviews academics and chronic absenteeism. Our SSC and ELAC teams reviews the same information and makes decisions that are embedded into our School Plan for Student Achievement. Your continued support of your child is greatly appreciated!
Soaring together,
Sherea Westra
