About Our Principal
Sherea Westra is ecstatic to continue her service to the students and community of Fremont as Mattos Elementary School’s principal. She has built positive relationships with the Mattos community which has assisted in rebuilding the Mattos Science Magnet Program.
For over 20 years, Mrs. Westra has built positive relationships with FUSD staff, students, and families to ensure that all students are provided a safe and nurturing opportunity to learn. Her collaborative approach centered on students allows positive opportunities for all to learn and grow. She taught grades 1-5 over the span of her teaching career at Niles Elementary School and has also been a summer school principal for the past four years. Mrs. Westra has served on numerous FUSD and site committees over the course of her career- FUSD C and I Committee, FUSD Long Range Facility Planning Committee, C and I Liaison, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Team Member, Coordinator of Services Team Coordinator, and advisor for the Niles Student Council. Over the years, she has volunteered for Niles PTA, Centerville PTS, Washington HS PTA, and the Fremont Education Foundation.
Mrs. Westra grew up in Fremont, having graduated from American High School. She lives in the Niles community with her husband and two children. Her daughter is a recent Washington HS graduate and her son will start school in August at Centerville Middle School.
