August Breakfast and Lunch Menus
August 18, 2024
Good morning,
FUSD is excited to offer FREE breakfast and lunch to all students!
At Mattos, students are provided a breakfast at their first recess. Unfortunately, we do not have staffing before school to do this. If your student would like the school breakfast, they are walked to the kitchen where they line up and take what is offered. If there is something served they don’t like, they can place it in the food share bin for other students to take after it has been selected.
For lunch, lunch count is taken at the beginning of the day to help estimate how many lunches are needed. If there is a vegetarian option, please make sure your child raises their hand for that option. Otherwise, we don’t have an accurate count. When it is time for lunch, students who want the school lunch line up near the kitchen. They are provided a tray of food, juice, and milk. Then, they walk to the a la carte station where they can get more choices (fruit and vegetables). Unfortunately, students can’t just get juice or milk. They can only do so if someone who has gotten a whole school lunch puts their juice or milk in the shared food bin because they don’t want it.
Special things to note:
Please see the FUSD menus below and always here. It is important to review these so students get the school meal they like. Otherwise, they have little to eat and have a tiring rest of the day. Food fuels the body and mind!
If you have any questions, please ask!
Sincerely,

Special things to note:
- If your child is bringing a lunch from home, they should eat what has been provided from home. Please talk to your child about school lunches- some want them, but are bringing home lunches.
- TK students may get a school lunch as long as there is an adult with them. Students and adult should stay in the MUR for approx. 20-25 minutes to eat the school provided lunch.
- On Kinder minimum days, students may get a school lunch as long as there is an adult with them. Student and adult should stay in the MUR for approx. 20-25 minutes to eat the school provided lunch.
- Lunches should be brought to school with the student each day. We would prefer lunches NOT be brought to campus at lunchtime. We want students to get in a routine of how lunch occurs at school and not cause a huddle of parents outside the office trying to deliver lunches to students. Please have their lunches come to school with them.
- If lunch, a water bottle, or anything from home is accidentally forgotten we have a “forgot at home” cart outside the office. If items or dropped off prior to 9:30 a.m., we will make sure the student receives it. After 9:30 a.m., the student has to come get the items themselves at breakfast recess or lunch.
- Please write your child’s name on water bottles and lunch boxes. We already have a bunch in our lost and found.
