Vista Alternative is the only non-charter, modified, independent study program serving the five comprehensive high schools and five middle schools in the Fremont Unified School District.  Vista provides engaging learning tailored to an independent model of instruction and learning. The Vista faculty provides a nurturing and positive environment for students to thrive personally and academically. This enables students to reach their goal of academic success through course completion and graduation.

Vista Alternative is an opportunity for students who:

• Are academically independent
• Are motivated and self-disciplined
• Willingness to work on a computer for 6+ hours a day
• Have strong time management skills
• Are comfortable with less daily social interaction
• Recognize that they will not have access to extracurricular activities at their home school such as athletics, dances, etc.

 

What You Might Not Know

At Vista we provide:

• Two academic semesters with one-on one and small group teacher attention.
• Students may earn up to 60 credits during the school year and 10 credits during the district provided summer school.  
• Students can graduate with 200 credits or choose to return to their home high school to graduate with 230 credits.
• Access to MVROP courses to help students become college and career ready by providing career pathway trainings.
• Free bus routes available to/from AHS and WHS to  support students so that they can attend school regularly.

Our program provides a safe and secure alternative learning environment that is tailored to accommodate individual needs, circumstances, or preferences that are not met by a traditional setting.  Our curriculum is an academically rigorous blended learning model that combines direct instruction and independent study.
