Assistant Principal: Laurie Garcia

I am extremely grateful to be part of Eagle Nation. I have been in education for eighteen years and I am excited to be part of American High School. I believe that an educator should be considerate, trustworthy, dependable, honest, and determined. Students strive to do their best if you communicate high expectations while encouraging them to challenge themselves. As an administrator, I will gain trust and respect by giving trust and respect to create a productive and positive school climate. I will take into consideration all of the stakeholders involved and create an effective environment where equity and access for all is prioritized. I want to give a voice to the students and let them know that they are important.

Assistant Principal: Julio Navarrete

I am thrilled to transition into the role of Assistant Principal and continue serving the students, families, teachers, and staff at American High School. With 14 years of high school teaching experience, including 9 years at AHS, I am deeply committed to our community's success. As a first-generation college student and a child of immigrants, my upbringing instilled in me the values of integrity, empathy, adaptability, and perseverance, which inform my educational philosophy. I am dedicated to providing targeted support and utilizing diverse resources to help all students reach their full academic potential. I am eager to work closely with parents, teachers, and staff to foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive. My door is always open, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the Eagle Nation.

Assistant Principal: Zahra Pelayo

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work as Assistant Principal at American High School.  I have eighteen years of experience teaching elementary school in the Fremont Unified School District and am looking forward to continuing to help all of the students at American grow into responsible and respectful members of our diverse community.   I believe in American's vision and will strive to support all students to reach their academic, civil, and social potential. As an administrator, one of my goals is to create an inclusive  school environment for all.  I look forward to working with the administrators, teachers, support staff, parents and students to ensure a positive transition back to in person learning and a successful high school experience for all students.

Assistant Principal: Spenser Peterson

I am so thrilled to call myself an Eagle!  Growing up in Fremont I attended FUSD schools from kindergarten all the way through high school.  After nearly a decade of a fulfilling career as an educator in Fremont, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Principal in the American attendance area.  In my opinion, education is a balance of knowledge and character.  I believe our students should leave American High School not only well-prepared academically but also equipped with the skills and values that will set them up for success in whatever they choose to pursue.  As an administrator I'm committed to making American High School a place where every student from every background feels seen, valued, and empowered.  Let’s make this journey together, and I look forward to actively contributing to the dynamic spirit that makes Eagle Nation so special!
