We want to especially thank Coach Jeff, Vinci, Lilian for leading our basketball team. Our players have worked and learned a lot about teamwork and grit. The month of February is Black History Month! Every morning we start the day with morning announcements and focus on one influential black person. Students also learn important facts about the history and culture in their classrooms.

Thanks to PTO sponsorship and Parent Ina, students got an incredible local black author to present at an assembly. His name is Robert Liu-Trujillo https://work.robdontstop.com/ . Our students got to ask questions and learn about how ideas turn into books. We have a few more black authors in the next few weeks to continue the celebration of Black History Month.

Small group intervention is a vital part of student success. Our teachers work together to ensure all students get the intervention that is needed. We have Ms. Hall, TK teacher, and Ms. Gobel, literacy coach working on science of reading activities.

Our teachers also value the opportunity to mix classes. When mixing students from different classes, it helps students develop leadership and communication skills. Coach Phy and Coach Odor partner teaching two classes about how to work together in a game. Ms. Harada helping two students in a buddy class activity with 5th and 2nd grade.

PBIS Parent Involvement

PBIS Parent Volunteers Needed
As we continue to grow our PBIS efforts this year, we are looking to add parent involvement to our PBIS team! On the third Wednesday of each month our team meets to discuss plans for PBIS at Bringhurst. We would need parent input for the first 15-20 minutes of each meeting (1:45 - 2:00pm). We would share what issues we are seeing on campus and have you brainstorm with the team on how to address these needs at school. Please let us know if you're interested!

Rainy Day Protocol

Help us remind students of these protocols to better prepare for unpredictable weather!

  1. Please encourage students to use their raincoats instead of their umbrellas to prevent any accidents.
  2. A reminder that Kindergarteners will NOT be able to use an umbrella if it rains during pick-up time as kids would be sitting too close to each other, so please prepare rain coats.
  3. Our closed campus policy is still in place despite the weather changes. You may instruct your child to walk to their classroom and out of the rain in the morning, there will be many adults to assist and supervise students. Please do NOT ask students to open gates for you, or walk in the campus after school for pick up.
  4. Our priority is safety. Kindly respect our traffic crew and their instructions as they help in the morning, rain or shine!
