Bringhurst Newsletter #17

We are officially in the home stretch! There will be a plethora of school events in this last month. One of them is our annual field day, which is a fun day filled with outdoor activities. Please consider signing up to volunteer so we can organized a safe and awesome day for the kids! Detailed information provided below.
As we approach the busy and exciting season of end-of-the-year activities, we’d like to remind all families of the importance of following school rules and practicing public courtesy. For example, abiding regular traffic rules, avoid bringing younger siblings to certain events, check-in with a sticker through the front office, etc. With more events on campus, it’s important that students and visitors act respectfully, follow guidelines, and help keep the environment safe. Thank you for working together with us so we can ensure a positive close to the school year for everyone.
Be kind, be safe, be responsible. Be your blazer best!

Last Friday, we said "see you later" to our forever Blazer Secretary, Mrs. Sanchez, as she takes the next step in her career. Staff and students made sure she felt very loved and appreciated for all of contribution she's made to establish the Bringhurst community since the school opened. We love and miss her so much already! |
Amazing effort from our music teacher, Mrs. Sampson, and all the student in their grade-level choir performance! Space was a precious commodity as we all maneuvered our way in the MUR, so thank you to all the parents and teachers that help made this event a successful one! |
Our long-awaited 4th grade trip to Sacramento is finally complete! It was a full and exciting day, from learning about our state government at the Capitol, to exploring the California Museum and the Railroad Museum, walking through Old Sacramento, and even trying our hand at gold panning. It was busy, memorable, and so much fun! A heartfelt thank you to our incredible teachers, chaperones, PTO, and families for making this experience possible. Your support helped make this trip not only unforgettable, but also free for all of our 4th graders. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and care that went into making this day such a success! |
Today, our Blazers had a special visit from Assembly Member Alex Lee! He shared about his role, the work he does, and how he serves our community. Students had a great opportunity to learn more about leadership, government, and ways they can make a difference. A great assembly that paired with the Sacramento field trip. Thank you for inspiring our students! |
Congrats to the Blazer soccer team for finishing up a strong season! We had an amazing season with our two awesome coaches! Shoutout to our hardworking coaches: Coach Frederick and Coach Fernando. This season wouldn't happen without the both of you! Also thank you to our community that came out to support every game and cheering on our players! |

On Thursday, May 14th Lila Bringhurst students will be participating in the KIDS AGAINST HUNGER Service Learning Project where 2nd-5th grade students will be packing meals for those in need. TK-1st grade students will cheer them on and have the opportunity to draw/write messages to be taped onto the packed meals.
To make this a successful service learning project for our students, we are hoping that each student will be able to raise and/or donate at least $10 to cover the cost of the food and materials. We will have an ice bucket challenge if we reach our donation goal and the student(s) who raises the most money, they will be able to pour ice water onto either Mrs. Hsu or Mrs. Black!

Starting next school year, FUSD volunteers are required to be mandated reporters. This means all volunteers will need to complete Mandated Reporter Certification through Keenan Safe Schools. We will be accepting all volunteers 3 times a year. This information will be given out again next year in our back-to-school newsletter.

PBIS Parent Volunteers Needed
As we continue to grow our PBIS efforts this year, we are looking to add parent involvement to our PBIS team! On the third Wednesday of each month our team meets to discuss plans for PBIS at Bringhurst. We would need parent input for the first 15-20 minutes of each meeting (1:45 - 2:00pm). We would share what issues we are seeing on campus and have you brainstorm with the team on how to address these needs at school. Please let us know if you're interested!
