Traffic commitee

Principal's Message

Words cannot express the amount of gratitude our staff and parents have towards the traffic volunteers as they show up every morning to help. We are all safer because of you.
Thank you so much for all that you for us and the kids!

Next week will be Parent Teacher Conferences. This is a great opportunity for parents to learn about how their child is doing. Our PE and Science teachers also have their scheduled available should you need to talk with them. More details of that below in the newsletter.

After conference week, we will be preparing for the Halloween Parade on 10/31. Please make sure you are aware of our costume guidelines and parade plans to help make the day fun and safe for everyone! We are excited to see what creative costumes there will be this year (and count how many K-pop demon hunter characters we will see 🙂

Be kind, be safe, be responsible. Be your blazer best!

PBIS Parent Involvement

PBIS Parent Volunteers Needed
PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Support) is a team here at Bringhurst that helps to promote positive behavior by implementing systems (such as our Blazer Bucks) that support students' behavior needs. We were recognized last year for achieving silver status!

As we continue to grow our PBIS efforts this year, we are looking to add parent involvement to our PBIS team! Here is what volunteering may look like:

Attending PBIS Monthly Meetings
On the third Wednesday of each month our team meets to discuss plans for PBIS at Bringhurst. We would need parent input for the first 15-20 minutes of each meeting (1:45 - 2:00pm). We would share what issues we are seeing on campus and have you brainstorm with the team on how to address these needs at school.

Blazer Buck Store
We need volunteers to come to school consistently to fulfill orders for prizes that students have earned using our Blazer Bucks.

If you are interested in helping with either or both, please fill out the google form here.

Lost and Found Announcements

IMPORTANT: our first donation of Lost and Found cart unclaimed items will be on Monday, 10/27/25, shortly after 8:15 am bell.

There will be no school on Friday, 10/24. Custodians will move ALL THREE carts outside the main school gate in the afternoon of Thursday, 10/23 - parents will have the entire 3-day weekend to look for their items before donation. Volunteers will try their best to move more items to the outside cart in the days leading up to donation, but please don’t wait until the last minute - the fuller the carts, the harder it is to find your belongings.

New this year: “Up for Grabs” period: on Monday 10/27 AM before 8:15am, parents and students are welcome to take any remaining unclaimed items that they may be able to use themselves. Everything left at that point will be discarded or donated after 8:15am bell. Volunteers will be unable to “hold” or look for any items for you.

Message from P.E. Coaches

It is hard to believe that October is already coming to an end. You probably have already scheduled your conference with your child’s homeroom teacher. Because each Physical Education teacher has hundreds of students, we are not able to meet with each family via Zoom. If necessary, we are available during conference week to discuss any PE related questions or concerns you may have. To arrange a video conference, please reach out via email.

Rainy Day Protocol

Help us remind students of these protocols to better prepare for unpredictable weather!

  1. Please encourage students to use their raincoats instead of their umbrellas to prevent any accidents.
  2. A reminder that Kindergarteners will NOT be able to use an umbrella if it rains during pick-up time as kids would be sitting too close to each other, so please prepare rain coats.
  3. Our closed campus policy is still in place despite the weather changes. You may instruct your child to walk to their classroom and out of the rain in the morning, there will be many adults to assist and supervise students. Please do NOT ask students to open gates for you, or walk in the campus after school for pick up.
  4. Our priority is safety. Kindly respect our traffic crew and their instructions as they help in the morning, rain or shine!

Lice Memo

Fall and Spring time is a very common to see a rise of cases of head lice. Please refer to this Lice Advisory Memo for school protocols.

Traffic Committee Updates

Traffic volunteer in cone costume
Shout out to our amazing traffic volunteers who are now in costume to help remind parents and children to be safe on the roads!

walk and roll
A huge THANK YOU to Marisa for spearheading our Walk n' Roll for this year! Much thanks to ALL the volunteers that came out to help pass things out (including the student helpers)! This wouldn't be possible without you all! And thank you to everyone who took a more eco-friendly, alternative pathway to school today!
Traffic rules
  • As always, remember to be on your Blazer Best and observe good traffic behavior:
  • Cooperate with volunteers
  • Have your kids ready to exit car at drop-off and exit the car on the walkway side of the street; Parents DO NOT exit your car and don’t put the backpacks in trunk
  • Do not: Double-park; Abandon your car; Park on fire lanes; Obstruct traffic; or Block the garages of condo residents

PTO Monthly Call - Tuesday 10/21 6pm

PTO Meeting
  • Our monthly meeting is next Tuesday (3rd Tuesday every month) at 6pm. CIPCF’s meeting is immediately after at 7pm.
  • We share a lot of PTO state of affairs and upcoming events on this call, as well as voting on PTO spending. Make your voice heard!
  • You can join the Zoom call through this link.

T-Shirt price adjustment - Effective 1/2026

  • Starting January 2026, Bringhurst T-Shirt will be priced at $12 to account for increasing costs
  • We understand that every family may have different financial resources and we do not want the price of the shirt to preclude our Little Blazers from having school pride. If you have a student who qualifies for needs-based sponsorships, please email us at [email protected] to see if your Blazer can get a free t-shirt.
  • We will collaborate with Bringhurst Administration staff to verify your student’s status as a need-based student, and proceed from there. For the T-shirt Sponsorship, our goal is to allow funding for a student in need to be awarded a new shirt once every 3 years.

School Clubs & T-Shirt Sponsorship Opportunities

  • Bringhurst PTO is now providing need-based sponsorship to the following items for students.
  • Sponsorship for School Club Fees/Competition Entry Fees (e.g. Math Kangaroo)
  • Sponsorship for a Bringhurst T-shirt (see above)
  • Sponsorship will be awarded on a first-come, first serve basis until the fund is exhausted.
