Principal Message
Fall has begun and our students have definitely settled into the routines of being back in school. Many of our school activities are starting and our students are EXCITED! The Blazer Bucks store, clubs for the clean team, newspaper, innovation are all starting this month and it is so fun to see it all happening. Many of our students have been volunteering to be lunch helpers and it has made a world of a difference in our lunchroom. GO BLAZERS!

I want to give a special shout out to all our volunteers. It has been a tremendous amount of help for our Blazer village! If you're interested please click here! Were still in need of lunch time supervision.

Be Kind
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Your Blazer Best!

Math Challenge is Back!
Thank you Sharon Young for bringing back The Math Challenge to Bringhurst. The Math Challenge program is a free math enrichment program for Kindergarten to 5th grade. It provides 15 sets of challenges throughout the school year. Each set is published every other week starting Sept. 13 and includes 18 problems ordered by level of difficulty. Younger students are expected to complete fewer problems. Challenges can be printed at home, and they can be submitted either online or in a box in the front office. The purpose of the program is to engage and challenge students to solve interesting math problems, thereby strengthening critical thinking skills and improving confidence in math. Prizes will be awarded for students completing 10 or more challenges.

Communication with Students
As a school, student safety is our highest priority. As parents/ guardians, please do not confront other students without the presence of school teachers/principal and parents of the other students.  Students may feel intimidated or unsafe. If you have concerns about a student, please direct them to the office.

Message from Hopkins Band & Orchestra Booster
Hello 4th and 5th grade families of the Hopkins attendance area,

Music at Hopkins is happy to announce that we are ready to enroll students in our Elementary Beginning Orchestra ( 4th and 5th graders with no playing experience) and our Elementary Intermediate Orchestra (5th graders with one or more years of playing experience). We will offer classes on Monday and Thursday evenings at Hopkins Middle School. The first day of classes will be September 23rd.

In order to get the most from the one hour per week we see them, beginning students will be grouped by instrument and classes will be limited to 35 students. There will be a Google form sent out after enrollment to determine each student's two preferred instruments (not everyone can play violin). The school will provide an appropriately sized instrument to students who choose to play string bass.

Intermediate Orchestra grouping will be determined by enrollment.

**Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis**

In order to buy books, pay our teacher and to rent the building (we get no support from FUSD, everything is paid through parent donations) we request $250 per student for the entire year of classes. Speaking of our teacher, I am pleased to announce that Ms. Emily Lin will be joining us this year. Ms. Lin teaches private lessons on violin and viola, she also has extensive experience leading ensembles. Our students are in for a special treat!
