August 2024: Superintendent’s Newsletter
Dear Fremont Unified Community,
Since becoming superintendent of Fremont Unified on July 1, I have truly enjoyed my time. It’s been a pleasure to meet so many dedicated students, staff, and community members. I look forward to meeting and collaborating with many more of you as we dig into the work ahead.
In the coming year, I look forward to getting to know Fremont and building relationships centered on positivity and trust. I will keep the District moving in the direction set by the Board of Education in consultation with our staff and community, and we will collectively remain responsive to emerging needs and opportunities.
I am thrilled that at the start of my tenure in this district, I get to jump into the amazing work of our staff in partnership with our community and Board to develop the draft Long Range Facilities Plan that came forward at last week’s Board meeting. The work done to date is truly impressive and monumental. This week our Board reached the next milestone in this process and unanimously decided to add to the November ballot an opportunity for the Fremont community to vote on a general obligation bond to support facility improvements in our district’s schools.
Another notable effort in the coming year will be engaging our staff and community in a comprehensive process to balance our budget for the 2025-2026 school year. I am eager to engage in all the work ahead to help build toward a better future for our students, staff, and families. Find information below to get involved in this work in the coming months.
This is the first Superintendent’s Newsletter of the year. You can expect to see a new edition once a month during the school year, with updates from my office and the District, as well as separate time-sensitive updates, reminders, and notifications as needed.
Last week the District sent back-to-school notices and reminders; please click here if you haven’t had a chance to review them yet, and keep an eye on your email, visit your school’s website, and view the Fremont Unified website for any additional information. Please also follow #FremontUnified on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for the latest news about our students, staff, and schools.
I wish you a joyful and safe remainder of summer break, and I thank the many of you for helping prepare for the coming school year and beyond. All of us at Fremont Unified look forward to seeing you on the first day of school: Wednesday, August 14.
Sincerely,
Erik Burmeister
Superintendent
First Day Attendance
All students are expected to attend school on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Students who are not in school the first day will not be guaranteed a seat in their assigned classes, and may be overloaded to other classes/schools upon return. Parents/Guardians must notify office staff if a student will be absent for illness. Seats will not be held for students on extended vacations or other optional activities, whether or not the school is notified. (BP/AR 5113.1) The parent/guardian must notify the school on each day the student is absent.
ClassLink: Password Reset Tool for Students
As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the security and independence of our students' digital learning experience, Fremont Unified School District is using a new Self-Service Password Reset Tool through the ClassLink platform.
Since the spring, parents/guardians have received initial and reminder email(s) with instructions to complete the mandatory account claim process for student Google accounts.
On August 8, all student Google accounts that had not completed the password reset process were disabled. Parents/Guardians received an email notification if their student’s account was disabled, with information on how to re-activate their student’s account.
Once you have completed this process, please ensure your student knows their new password.
Please visit fremontunified.org/classlink for troubleshooting and support.
