Dear Fremont Unified Community,

I am excited to share that this week Irvington High School was named a 2024 California Distinguished School by the California Department of Education for its outstanding education programs and practices. I feel incredibly fortunate to serve the Fremont Unified students, staff and community. Our schools are supportive, challenging and enriching, with opportunities for each student to thrive in our classrooms and beyond. Though I am incredibly proud of each of our schools, I know many of our facilities require immediate attention, and each site has unmet facilities needs and unmet potential due to facilities shortcomings.

I thank the many of you who already Joined the Conversation on unmet needs in Fremont Unified by completing our brief survey. From the feedback we have received to date, we see that respondents want to ensure that our students have access to state-of-the-art education facilities by:

Updating classrooms and science labs
Providing updated equipment and learning technology for classrooms, science and computer labs, and libraries
Replacing aging and leaking roofs
Replacing outdated, aging temporary portable classrooms
Repairing, replacing, upgrading and installing security, fire, lighting and other safety systems
Repairing and replacing outdated inefficient heating, cooling, electrical and plumbing systems and other school facilities and equipment

While more specific and dedicated funding is still needed, work towards these goals is underway wherever possible with current funding, including a major undertaking by the District to provide students and staff access to upgraded learning technology, with security enhancements across our technology systems. District Technology Update

Our Technology Department is leading a major effort to enhance the learning and work experience for our students and staff, and you will see a number of changes in the coming months.

District-Wide Chromebook Refresh: Every classroom will be equipped with a dedicated Chromebook cart, providing enhanced accessibility and flexibility for both teachers and students. This endeavor is aligned with our commitment to fostering a technologically-enriched learning environment.
Upgrade of Selected Student Labs: We are investing in the upgrade of selected site computer labs. This includes the installation of cutting-edge technology and resources to support student learning and innovation.
New Password Reset Tool for Staff and Students: We are introducing a new password reset tool for both staff and students. This tool will empower users to reset their passwords independently, enhancing security measures and ensuring a seamless login experience. You will receive more information on this in the coming weeks.

We appreciate your support and collaboration as we work together to create an environment that nurtures academic excellence and technological literacy.

2024 Golden Sneaker Contest

Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools is hosting the 2024 Golden Sneaker Contest from March 4-15.

All students are encouraged to walk, roll, carpool, and/or use public transit – click here to view the schools participating in the county-wide competition, dates may vary by site.

March 11 Workshop: CAASPP Info Session

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the state academic testing program.

March 27 Spring Into STEAM Event

The City of Fremont is hosting a Spring into STEAM event on Wednesday, March 27 from 5-8pm at the Downtown Event Center.

2024-25 Enrollment Information

Information on transitional kindergarten (TK), kindergarten, sibling priority and other new student enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is now available at fremontunified.org/enroll.

Eligibility for transitional kindergarten is expanding: Children who will be 5 years old between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025 can enroll in this free program for 2024-25 to get a head start in school and build their social, communication and independence skills.

If your student is currently attending an FUSD school in grades TK-11, there is no need to re-enroll.
