CLEP – College Level Examination Program
CLEP exams test mastery of college-level material acquired in a variety of ways — through general academic instructions, significant independent study or extracurricular work. CLEP exam-takers include adults just entering or returning to school, military service members and traditional college students.
The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) helps you receive college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. Developed by the College Board, CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program, available at more than 2,900 colleges and universities. Who can take the test?
College student, Home-Schooled Students, High School Graduates, Military Personnel, and Continuing Education Students may all take the test.
Where, When, and How is the test given?
CLEP examinations are administered throughout the year at over 1,800 test centers in the United States and abroad. You can find the most up-to-date database of test centers through My Account. After you register for an exam, it is important that you contact the preferred test center to schedule your appointment to test. Registering for an exam provides you with a payment receipt and a Ticket ID, but you must contact a test center to schedule the date and time you wish to take the test.
One CLEP exam costs $89, For military personnel, CLEP exams are free -- find out more! The 90 to 120 minute exams are administered at over 2000 test centers, and are accepted for credit by 2,900 U.S. colleges and universities.
