Dear Leitch Parents, Teachers, Students, and Support Staff,
As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for the dedication, time, and energy each of you brings to our school. Your efforts, big and small, help make Leitch a place where students thrive, feel supported, and grow each day.
The involvement of our parents and families, through the PTA and in so many other ways, plays an important role in building a strong and welcoming school community. Your engagement not only enriches our school culture but strengthens the connection between home and school—something that is so pertinent to each student's success.
Thank you for everything you do to make Leitch the incredible place it is.
Warmly,
Principal Rancap-Perez
Parent Teacher Conferences
The week of November 18 is set aside for Parent/Teacher Conferences with your child’s teacher. Please make every effort to attend your child’s conference. Below are tips for a successful conference.
Tips for a Successful Conference
1. Plan for conferences. Talk to your child. Jot down questions. Glance over your child’s textbooks and the work he/she brings home. Think about your child’s learning style and study habits.
2. Ask questions about your child’s schoolwork, his/her relationship with students and teachers, and any class or school rules you don’t understand.
3. Stay calm. Don’t get angry or defensive, argue or try to assess blame. Concentrate instead on anticipating problems, finding solutions and developing a good working relationship with the teacher.
4. Share any information that might help the teacher develop a better understanding of your child.
5. Decide with the teacher what, if anything, needs to be done to support your child. Agree on plans, responsibilities and future steps before you leave.
6. Talk with your child after the conference and share what was discussed. Be positive and encouraging.
7. Follow up. Implement your end of any agreement. Keep in touch with the teacher. If the plan doesn’t seem to be working, or if new problems develop, call the teacher and ask for another meeting. You are partners with the teacher in fostering your child’s learning.
Congratulations to Arghavan Mousavian for winning the Fall Stampede T-shirt Design Contest!
Booster-Fall Stampede
Leitch Families! We want to say a HUGE “Thank you!” to our students, staff, and donors for this incredible Leitch Fall Stampede fundraiser.
Here are our final stats:
💲We raised over $17,000 for student events, assemblies, software subscriptions, and teacher allocations. This will directly impact our students and staff!
🥳We celebrated our community coming together and created unforgettable memories at our Leitch Fall Stampede event.
Thank you for your support of our school. We’re grateful for our Leitch community!
We value open communication and cooperation in resolving any conflicts that may arise between students. If your child experiences an issue with another student, please do not approach the other child directly, especially if their parent or guardian is not present. Instead, bring any concerns directly to the school office, where our team can address and mediate any situations that may arise.
Our goal is to make sure we create a safe, supportive environment for all students, and we are here to assist in managing and resolving conflicts thoughtfully and professionally.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

School Breakfast/Lunches
ALL Leitch students will have access to free meals here at school regardless of their family's economic need. Students will be asked every morning if they are going to get a school lunch so we can order the correct amount of food.
Please communicate with your child if you would like them to get a school meal and if they need meat or vegetarian. TK/K students are welcome to come through the lunch line and grab a lunch but there is no lunch supervision for TK/K students they will need to eat with a parent/guardian off campus.
Breakfast will be served daily in the MUR for any interested students. Breakfast serving will start at 7:45. Students should arrive early so that they have time to eat. Students will be supervised while they eat and will be either released to recess when finished or if they are TK/K they will be walked to class. For menus and more information please use this link.
Drop Off and Pick Up
James Leitch Elementary and the Fremont Police Dept. are teaming up to make the school area safer. If you're dropping off or picking up your child, please follow these rules:
- The Valet Lane is closed during the school day, so it's not available for TK/K parents dropping off or picking up students.
- Enter the Valet Lane on Fernald St. and pull all the way forward.
- Have your child ready to get out on the passenger side. Make sure their backpack is ready and they’re wearing their shoes.
- A volunteer or staff member will help your child get in and out of the car. Your child should not exit the car without this help.
- After dropping off or picking up, drive slowly out of the valet lane and turn right on Warren. Turning left slows traffic and is unsafe.
- On Warren, go all the way to the stop sign to make a U-turn. Don’t turn left or make a U-turn before the stop sign.
This system is meant to improve traffic flow and prevent accidents. You can still park and walk your child if you prefer. Please follow these rules to help keep everyone safe.
Crosswalks and Sidewalks
Crosswalks
Please cross at marked crosswalks to stay safe. Crossing Fernald Street anywhere else, especially between parked cars, is very dangerous.
Sidewalks
Always use the sidewalks around the school. Walking through the staff parking lot behind parked cars is risky for both students and parents.
Parking at School
School parking lots are for employees only and are marked as “Staff Only.” It is also very important that you DO NOT park in the lots across the street or in the housing lot next to the school on the south side. These belong to the residents and they will contact the police to tow your vehicle. You may only park in designated areas on the street or in the parking lot located at the corner of Fernald St. and Warren Ave. We strongly urge you to use our valet system for dropping off and picking up your child that is available at 8:05 a.m. and 2:40 p.m.
